D.O.G.S. 2021 First Round at Riverside Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

33 Players turned out to kick off the D.O.G.S. 2021 season at Riverside. The course was well prepared and had us at the tee boxes right on time. Conditions were very comfortable with an overcast sky keeping the temperature down. A very light rain fell for a short while on the back nine but did not affect play as the D.O.G.S. cruised around the course unimpeded and were in the clubhouse long before the sky began to darken.

Welcome to Hitoshi Maruyama and Velma Yolanda who joined the D.O.G.S. for the first time. We hope you enjoyed the day and will be back soon!

We had 2 double winners for the day; Gary Danskin picked up Lowest Gross with a 74 and came in Runner Up, Ashadi Waclik took the prestigious Most Exercise and Booby Prize awards!

Our 2020 Top Dog James Bristow was not to be outdone winning and started his 2021 campaign winning 3 prizes; Nearest to Pin, Putting Champion and the Little Dog for Weekly Champion

Congratulations to all of our winners! Check out full results on our Leaderboard.

Rules

Courtesy of fellow Dog, Jens Roestel - R&A First Grade Umpire.

The Rules and what it means when we play.

Situation:

Player A hits a shot toward a penalty area marked with red stakes. The players all agree (known or virtually certain) that the ball went into the hazard and under Rule 17.1d the player takes relief.

After taking relief the original ball was found in the general area outside of the penalty area by the players playing ahead.

What is the ruling?

Answer:

Under Rules 14.4 & 14.5 if he had dropped a ball and the first ball was found before he played it, he could have corrected the mistake.

If he had played the dropped ball, then that became the ball in play, including the penalty stroke for relief from the Red Penalty Area (no longer called Lateral Water Hazard!), and the original ball no longer counts.

Handicaps

We are now using myGolf2u for D.O.G.S. handicaps.

In order to ensure your handicap is accurate and up to date we encourage you to log non-D.O.G.S. rounds in the app. You can do this while you play or later in the comfort of your home using the web portal found at m.mygolf2u.com

Should you need assistance please contact Rod Williams and he will be happy to help.

A final reminder; we no longer share a database with Tee Set and will not be submitting scores from D.O.G.S. rounds to their secretary. To keep your Tee Set handicap up to date, players must submit scores directly to Tee Set.

Charity

Proceeds from our next tournament will be going to Yayasan Al Hijrah, an orphanage that adopts abandoned children and educates them from throughout Indonesia. Ibu Ida, the founder of Yayasan Al Hijrah, is a friend of John & Sarah Brown.

D.O.G.S. Match Play Competition

The D.O.G.S. have many players who enjoy match play; to this end we have decided to run a match play competition during our 2021 season. Craig Edwards will be working the details out and getting this kicked off in the coming weeks. If you would like to compete please drop us a note to jakartadogs@gmail.com and we'll get you entered.
