Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!
Well despite the very rainy morning which caused a slightly delayed start, the skies cleared - at least the rain did - and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with 62 players for our final round in this Eclectic Series. Pondok Cabe has broken many records for the D.O.G.S. with 408 rounds of golf played over the 6 weeks with 160 players - a very impressive turnout. Thanks to you all for the tremendous support. A few more newcomers this week so a big welcome to Henry Hukom, Joel Eley, Juan Carlos Portillo and Nina Micski - always good to see new faces.
So, with all the Dogs coming out to play, the Little Dog, the new Mini Dogs and the Big Dog there was much to play for and look forward to.
A couple of big "Thank You's" to start with: Reysia Moore for the delicious Cottage and Shepherd's Pies afterwards and Srinivas Murthy Via.com for the beers - all this helped us recover from the real shock of the day......
What happened to our septuagenarian, Herr Michael Mueller!
Well, at least at his age he still has hair to grow out - quickly please Michael!!
Anyway - let's get back to the play starting with the day's play: Eric Mary and Max Sollfrank showed their accuracy off the tee taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes as Diarmuid Flanagan and Anirudh Katre had their drivers working taking the Longest Drive prizes whilst Robson Drumond and Richard Mau took the Drive & Pitch prizes - with both almost making it an Eagle 2 - can't get much closer than that!
Robson also had a great day with the putter taking the Putting Champion prize. "Single" Sandra Novita enjoyed her stroll around the park taking both the Booby and Most Exercise trophies - no problem - it was a pleasant afternoon for a walk!
Yet again Anirudh Katre took the lowest gross - you can do better than that Anirudh - with John Gustke becoming this week's Runner Up.
Many years ago John Gustke played with the D.O.G.S. in Manila - where it all started - and here he is back then wearing the Manila DOGS cap - you haven't aged a bit John and thanks for the photo!
So, all this cleared the way for our newcomer Joel Eley to be this week's Champion and the winner of the Little Dog.
A big congratulations to all our winners!
So now we turn to the race for the Big Dog and Blue Jacket. Well, it was tight at the top going into the final week with any of the top several capable to knocking Andrew Goode off the top - however he managed to make a couple of improvements - including a chip-in birdie on the 16th to hold on to the top and take the Big Dog home. Well done Andrew!
Anirudh Katre kept consistently shooting low scores over the six weeks to take the Lowest Gross Average Trophy.
Also, for the first time we introduced the Mini Dog as the trophies for the Eclectic Runner Up and Third Place - as you can see in the photos - note JB had to hold his Runner Up Mini Dog high to make sure it was still taller than him!! Thank you to Willy Noronha and Connect Energy for helping make the mini Dogs happen.
Andrew Goode was joined by past Blue Jacket winners for the usual Blue Jacket Parade!
Please check out the full standings on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app.
We had one piece of unfinished business to attend to: Jude Alexander was presented with his Blue Jacket from the Rancamaya tournament from 2022.
Our Charity for this Series was the Indriya - YPAI, the school for autistic children in Bogor. You generously donated IDR 7,667,000 - a very significant amount and a big thank you to all - we will be visiting the school in the next week to pass this on.
And so we move on to Imperial Klub Golf in Karawaci for our second series of 2023. Registration is open on Mygolf2u or through the website as usual. So, as we always say, grab a friend and sign up now for next week and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners.

A player makes a practice swing and accidentally moves their ball on the fairway with the club. What is the ruling?
A - There is no penalty but the player must replace the ball.
B - The player gets one penalty stroke and must replace the ball.
C - There is no penalty, but the practice swing counts as a stroke and the ball
must be played as it lies.
Correct answer B
Explanation: See Definition of Stroke. If a player causes their ball to move they get one penalty stroke and the ball must be replaced. As there was no intention to strike the ball, the practice swing does not count as a stroke.
So there is one stroke penalty, but for moving the ball not for the stroke itself.
Saturday there was the question, whether a ball, which is lying in front of the white marker (stick) for OB marking can be dropped without a penalty or the white marker (stick) can be taken out, if it is removable.
Answer: The OB marker can not be taken out and the ball can not be dropped free of penalty, because the OB do not belong to the course any more, so they must stay as they are and the ball must be played as it lies or dropped as unplayable with one penalty.
A player makes a stroke while holding an umbrella over their head. What is the ruling?
A - The player is disqualified.
B - The player gets the general penalty.
C - There is no penalty.
Correct answer C
Explanation: A player is allowed to protect themselves from the elements by wearing protective clothing, or by holding an umbrella over their head, but the player may not accept such protection from anyone else.
