Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!
So Fritz has moved to the wonderful Garden Course at Klub Golf Bogor Raya for our new Eclectic Series. A great course with a real resort atmosphere - you could almost be in Bali - but without the sea views. 57 players made the trip down the toll for our first round including some newcomers and old faces we haven't seen for a while.
So a big welcome to Marc Hogberg, Chris Hughes and Mohit Govil and welcome back to Ameesh Anand, Cindy Nurmadi, Shivashish Pandey, Steven Xie, Juha Chistensen, Andrew Mackin, James Taylor, Michael Mueller, Diana Budiarti and Sari Smith - good to see you all back but please don't leave it so long before we see you again.
It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon for golf with moderate temperatures and no threat of rain or storms and the free beer to get things going - what could be better? With the shotgun start off the front nine starting on time at 11:30am everyone completed their rounds in reasonable time and got back to the Tondano Restaurant to enjoy the Apres Golf. We will be having similar starts for all the rounds here so please ensure you arrive in good time to get things underway - it's worth keeping your eye on the mygolf2u app to make sure you're up to date with any last minute changes to your starting holes as sometimes we don't know until almost the last minute. This is all designed to make sure you have the best golfing experience we can deliver in conjunction with the course management.
So, to the play - and a good spread of winners this week: Sari Smith and Craig Edwards hit some accurate tee shots to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes and Chris Barnett and Hitoshi followed suit with accurate approach shots to take the Drive & Pitch honours. Newcomer Marc Hogberg and Richard Mau had their drivers working, albeit off different tees! - to take the Longest Drive prizes. Nicolas Verdenal mastered the green winning this week's Putting Champion prize. Alas, Velma Yolanda rather uncharacteristically took the Booby Prize this week - too much Shochu one wonders! Bastian Armbruster took the long way round the course but did not go away empty handed winning the Most Exercise Trophy - at least it's a trophy Bastian!
Richard Mau certianly had his game face on shooting an impressive 2 over par winning the Lowest Gross prize. Remon Moerman also had his game face on winning the Runner Up prize leaving the way for Marc Hogberg to win the day becoming our first Weekly Champion of this series taking the Little Dog home.
A big congratulations to all this week's winners.
With this being only the first round in the Eclectic Series, not too much to report on the contenders for the Big Dog of course but please check out the full standings on our Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app. Still a lot of room for improvements so all the more reason to come and join the fun over the next 5 rounds!
The Charity for this series is the ASTI Animals Sanctuary Trust Indonesia - Details can be found on our Charity page - where we will help support this very worthy cause supported by Asian Tigers culminating in their annual 45 hole challenge in a few weeks' time. Check out the details for this on our Upcoming Golf Tournaments page.
So, as we always say, grab a friend and sign up for our second round at Bogor Raya and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners! Also note that signing up early helps a lot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.
