Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Happy New Year fellow Dogs - may you all have a great and successful year in all your golfing endeavours - as well as all the other things you get up to.
So we headed out to Riverside Golf Club for our first round of 2024 with a great turnout of some 53 players including the ever-growing Thai group. A big welcome, therefore, to Ekachai, Kasidis, Niwat and Vorrasit who all had their first game with the D.O.G.S.
The club got us all off on time with a semi shotgun off the front nine. Play was a bit slow due to the fact that the course was very busy - a good time to remind everyone to watch your pace of play! However, the storm clouds were gathering, and the rain came with most of us having only completed as few as 6 or 7 holes. So, everyone went back to the club house hoping things would clear - but alas, no! Play was officially called off by the Starters at 4pm - hey, we can't control the weather and it's been a long while since we had a wash-out - fingers crossed for better times next week.
The holes completed do still count in the Eclectic series so not all is lost.
The Club is giving Rain Checks to all players who were there for next week. They have a list of names so you will only need to pay the Cart & Caddie fee of IDR490.000.

As mentioned, all completed holes are counted towards the Eclectic and you can see the results of that on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual. Note that uncompleted holes are always given the maximum allowed under the Eclectic system of 8.
So, let's hope for better weather next week - the forecast at this distance out is looking better - so grab a friend and sign up. Don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!

Rules Information
New D.O.G.S. Local Rule for OB
Starting this year, for all games, the D.O.G.S. are introducing a local rule which allows players the option to take a drop in the fairway under a 2 stroke penalty for a ball that has been hit OB.
If a ball is hit OB; in place of stroke and distance penalty, player has option of taking a two-stroke penalty and dropping a ball on the fairway nearest to the point where the original ball crossed the edge of course boundary no nearer to the hole.
Once a player has moved forward their only relief option is as provided by this local rule and not stroke and distance relief. If a provisional ball was played the player must proceed with provisional ball.
