Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!
So we come to our fifth and penultimate round at Pondok Cabe Golf Club with another fantastic turnout of 75 players - we just keep breaking all records here!
Our usual shotgun got us off on time and, despite a little rain early on, the pace was good and everyone was finished and back in the clubhouse in good time. Some newcomers to welcome: Ange Bowes, Chris Anderson, Chris Barnett, John Packer, Patrick Kneubuehler, Pekka Alamattila and not forgetting more of the Hertzke Clan, Kai and Jochen. All are most welcome and we hope to see much more of you in the future. May I remind everyone to check in with whoever is doing the registration - usually me - before you set off for any practice/warm up you want - just lets us know that you have arrived so we can tell others in your group that you are here - thanks.
So to the play: Apart from the Anirudh Katre show - he took Longest Drive, Drive & Pitch and Lowest Gross - Pras Sutowo took the Nearest to the Pin along with Pekka Alamattila, Steve Sutton the other Longest Drive and Manish Patel the other Drive & Pitch. Douglas Ure had his putter working but it did take a count back with Vijay for Douglas to win the Putting Champion prize this week. The latest Brown Family addition to the D.O.G.S., Apple, had a long day out taking the Most Exercise - you need more of Mum's lessons! whilst Mike Tovey left us again, hopefully for less than 10 years this time, taking this week's Booby Prize - except he left without it!
So we came to the battle of the Finn's with Sami and Timo fighting for the Little Dog with Timo Karonen coming out on top by 1 point to take the little fellow home so Sami Kekonen had to settle for Runner Up - I bet you're glad to see him back Sami!
A big congratulations to all our winners!
So, with 5 rounds complete it's getting very tight at the top of the Eclectic Leaderboard with only 0.1 separating Andrew Goode and John Brown. Andrew has a few bogie holes he needs to concentrate on next week as does John - that'll jinx them! - which could open the door for Sami or any of the others in the chasing pack. For those of you who like romantic photos the picture on the left says it all - not quite sure what "all" is so I'll leave it to your imagination - but what a fine looking couple they make! We should have more sweet photos like this for the weekly post please.
A thank you to Bill Lloyd whose dream came true of being the guest "Yo D.O.G.S.!" caller in KD's absence. You haven't quite got the voice yet mate.
So we come to our final week in this Eclectic Series, and what a series it has been. The Big Dog will come out to play next week looking for a new home to go to. A reminder to all those who have previously won blue jackets to bring them with you for the customary Blue Jacket parade with the new winner.
