D.O.G.S. Third Round at Jagorawi Golf & Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!

So, to the halfway stage in the Jagorawi challenge. 32 players made the journey - a bit down on last week likely due to some being away enjoying the Bali Classic! A good day, though, well, at least the weather which had threatened to rain but held off. Only one newcomer this week, Anthony De Bijl, and a surprise face we haven't seen for a while, John Dotch. Welcome all.

The shotgun start got us off a little early this week and, with the usual good pace of play, everyone was finished in very good time.

Just a quick word about safety - A simple mis-step while exiting a bunker sent one of our fellow Dogs home with a hand injury on their very first hole. Unfortunately, a follow up visit to the doctor revealed a broken bone which will require 6 weeks to mend. The D.O.G.S. wish a full and speedy recovery.

While courses appear benign, the uneven terrain, heat, overhanging trees, wildlife, etc. do present many hazards. Be aware of your surroundings and assess potential dangers to prevent injury to yourself or others enjoying the course.

Anyway, to the play: The Brown's kept close to each other with John and Sarah taking the Longest Drive prizes. Rosie Tjaden and Joe Phua held the green's to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes as did Jude Alexander, the only Drive & Pitch winner this week; if we don't include Steve Sutton who didn't think he had a chance so couldn't be bothered to put his name of the flag!

David Moore had the flat stick working well taking the Putting Champion prize this week. Teck Fah Lee struggles this week taking the Cricket Bat Booby prize whilst newcomer went home with the Most Exercise Trophy keeping Christian out the running yet again - he actually had quite a good round this week!

Richard Mau kept it up winning the Lowest Gross but only on a count back. A count back was also needed to separate Jude Alexander and Chris Anderson for the top honours with Chris winning out to take the Little Dog home and become our Weekly Champion.

A big congratulations to all our winners this week.

So, with the third round done and dusted we're halfway. Richard Mau has held on to his lead but he's now at the Birdie or better stage to get any more improvements with 4.1 points separating the top 5 and still plenty of room for improvements. There's still a long way to go. You can see the full Eclectic results on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app.

Some Special Updates:

ANZA Students Update

For the past 2 years the D.O.G.S. have been supporting the ANZA Student Sponsorship Program. We have 6 students currently in the program. Louise Kennedy the coordinator for the program sent us this update.

I have the second semester reports for the six students sponsored by D.O.G.S. in 2022-2023 - I'm pleased to report that both Dafy and Yoga passed the Elementary Certificate and have moved to local Negeri Junior High Schools for the next stage of their education, while Qisya, Sarah, Zahir and Riyan are all working well and achieving good grades.

I'm hoping D.O.G.S. will still be able to sponsor these four little ones and maybe take on a couple more. The sponsorship amount is now Rp 1,100,000 for an Elementary student making a total of Rp 4,400,000 if you continue with Qisya, Sarah, Zahir and Riyan, and we can allocate a new student or two, depending on what you are able to donate this year.

With many thanks as always to you and everyone at D.O.G.S. for your kind and generous support, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Collections from our upcoming Pondok Cabe tournament will go to to 2024 sponsorship.

Mygolf2u:

A player takes lateral relief from a red penalty area by correctly dropping a ball in the two club-length relief area. While the player is assessing their next shot, a gust of wind blows the ball back into the penalty area.

What is the ruling?

A - The player may play the ball as it lies or take penalty relief again for an additional one penalty stroke.

B - There is no penalty but the player must replace the ball back on its original

spot.

C - The player must take penalty relief again for an additional one penalty

stroke.

Correct answer: B
