Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!
A huge turnout for the final round of our Rainbow Hills Eclectic Championship unfortunately coincided with a busy day at the club. A shortage of carts delayed our start by almost an hour and the course remained busy throughout the day, making for a methodical pace of play. Despite the delays, everyone still enjoyed another great day at Rainbow Hills. In fact, it was such a good day that Steve Sutton was spotted smiling on more than one occasion—we even managed to capture a tiny smile in a photograph! Unfortunately, the late start meant a few groups were unable to complete their rounds before darkness fell.
As always, Rainbow Hills was presented in excellent condition. The dry fairways continued to provide plenty of run, once again producing some enormous Longest Drives.
We were delighted to welcome Mohan Thanabalan, Simon Husin, Yit Ming Chan, Akshay Vaidya, Chong Yew Lim, Sebastian Lim and Tian Chiok Lian for their first D.O.G.S. round. Welcome back also to David Huang, Ravi Murch and Oswaldo Chacon.
Daily prize winners once again shared the spoils around the course, with Steve Sutton and Roger Finnie claiming the Nearest to the Pins, Joemar Climaco and Tim Knight taking the Drive & Pitch prizes, and Anirudh Lakshman Katre launching one of the biggest drives of the tournament to collect Longest Drive. Chris Barnett took home the Putting Championship, while Saowanee Siriwat claimed the Most Exercise award after recording 116 shots. Anirudh capped off an outstanding day by adding Lowest Gross with a fine 79, before President John Brown rounded out the daily prizes by taking home the Little Dog with an unexpected 44 Stableford points. It is fair to say nobody was more surprised than the winner himself!

Before announcing this week's top three finishers, we took care of some unfinished business by presenting Paul Eckhardt with his Big Dog, earned through his epic victory in the Permata Sentul Eclectic Championship. Congratulations once again, Paul!
Back to the Rainbow Hills honours. Although Matt "The Leopard" Timbrell didn't claim Lowest Gross on the final day, The Leopard had done enough stalking over the previous five rounds to secure the title of 2026 Rainbow Hills Lowest Gross Champion.
The spotlight then turned to the club's premier prize. Richard Mau held his nerve over six rounds to claim the 2026 Rainbow Hills Eclectic Championship and the coveted Big Dog with a superb Eclectic score of 57.5, finishing comfortably ahead of the chasing pack.

Rainbow Hills has once again proved to be a fantastic tournament venue and we're already looking forward to returning in 2027.
As we wrap up another successful Rainbow Hills tournament, we'd like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make it happen. Sarah Brown once again worked her magic securing our tee times, Chris Anderson preparing the weekly flights and handling post-round scoring, Paul Barnett assisting with registration, and Kevin "Yo Dogs!" Dobson keeping the prize presentations running smoothly each week. A special thank you also goes to Aknes, who was always on hand take photos, look after our charity barrel collections, and, quite simply, for being Aknes.
Finally, thank you to everyone who turned up week after week. The fantastic turnouts, friendly atmosphere and camaraderie are what make the D.O.G.S. such a special club. We couldn't do it without you, and we look forward to seeing you all again at the next venue.

Rules Information
Many golfers still believe that once your ball is in a penalty area, you're not allowed to stand in it to play your shot.
That's a myth.
Provided your ball is playable, you are free to enter the penalty area and play it as it lies. You may even stand in the water (if you really want to!) to make your stroke.
The only restriction is that, before making your stroke, you must not deliberately improve the conditions affecting the stroke. For example, you cannot bend or break growing vegetation to create a better swing or line of play.
So next time your ball finishes in a penalty area, remember you have a choice:
Play it as it lies, or
Take penalty relief under Rule 17.
Sometimes taking your chances from the penalty area can save you a stroke.
