D.O.G.S. First Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

A huge turnout saw the D.O.G.S. descend on Klub Golf Bogor Raya for the opening round of our latest Eclectic Championship. With a big field to accommodate, a semi-shotgun start got everyone underway and allowed the group to move steadily around the course, with everyone safely back in the clubhouse before darkness fell.

A quick note on the semi-shotgun starts at Bogor Raya. The club does not confirm our starting holes until game day, so the holes shown in myGolf2u beforehand are simply placeholders. They allow everyone to see who they are grouped with but do not indicate your actual starting hole. Please check your starting hole at registration before heading out.

We had plenty of new and returning faces this week. Terry Tyler brought along three mates, Gene, Rob and Sergio, while we welcomed Shindi, John Packer's wife, along with Peter Beach and Yu Sik Kim for their first outings with the D.O.G.S. It was also great to welcome Dennis Kuehne, Bastian Armbruster and Pras back to the fold.

Sadly, we also say farewell to Lauren Lee, who is returning home to Korea. Lauren has promised she'll be back with the D.O.G.S. in January, and we look forward to seeing her again.

There was plenty of competition out on the course. Claudio Ghelli picked up both a Nearest to the Pin and a Drive & Pitch, while Rob Caliva claimed the other Nearest to the Pin. Stuart Clark and Peter Beach supplied the big hitting to take the two Longest Drives, with Dennis Kuehne collecting the remaining Drive & Pitch.

On the greens, Roger Finnie needed just 25 putts to take Putting Champion. At the other end of the exercise scale, Michael Benner made sure he got full value from his green fee with 114 off the stick to claim Most Exercise, while Axel Hertzke produced an excellent 76 to take Lowest Gross.

Your President's remarkable transformation from Little Dog winner at Rainbow Hills last week to Booby Prize winner this week was completed with 26 points. Consistency is clearly overrated.

At the sharp end, Stuart Clark put together an excellent 39 points to take Runner Up, but there was no stopping Roger Finnie. Adding to his Putting Champion honours, Roger fired an outstanding 43 Stableford points to become our first Bogor Raya Weekly Champion of 2026.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners!

With just the opening round completed, the Bogor Raya Eclectic is only beginning to take shape. Roger Finnie sits at the top of the early standings, with Axel Hertzke and Tim Knight close behind. With five rounds still to play, there is plenty of time — and plenty of holes — for everyone to improve.

Full results can be viewed on the leaderboard.

Bogor Raya has generously made 60 places available to the D.O.G.S., and we came very close to filling them all this week. With another big turnout expected for Round 2, please register early if you want to play. Don't assume there will still be a spot waiting for you at the end of the week — secure your place now!

Rules Information

Where's the Hole?

Ever faced a blind approach or chip where you can't see the hole? Having someone lift the flagstick high into the air — even over their head — to show you where you're aiming is perfectly legal.

Under Rule 13.2b, a player may have someone attend the flagstick by holding it in, above or next to the hole to indicate the hole's position. This applies to a stroke played from anywhere on the course, not just the putting green.

The important part comes once the ball is on its way. If the flagstick is being attended, the person holding it must make sure it is removed or moved out of the way rather than deliberately allowing the ball to strike it.

So next time you're staring at a blind shot, don't guess where the pin is — send a fellow Dog up there and get them to wave the flag!

This video provides a great example of how it works.
