D.O.G.S. Fourth Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya
Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!
Another big turnout saw more than 50 D.O.G.S. descend on Bogor Raya for Round 4 of the Eclectic.
It was great to welcome back Detlef Bluemke, Riahana, Mark Patrick and Max Sollfrank, while Luke Hall joined us for the first time. Welcome to the D.O.G.S., Luke!
A big thank you also goes to Air Drilling Associates (ADA) and Joost Hennalla for providing the beef jerky before the start of play. It certainly didn't last long.
For the second week running we had to exercise a little patience before getting onto the course, eventually teeing off at around 12:20. Pace wasn't particularly quick once we got going either, but patience paid off and everyone managed to get around before darkness.
The front nine was very hot, which did little to help those D.O.G.S. who had attended the JSAS Whisky Tasting the previous evening and spent the early holes alternating between bouts of nausea and dizziness. Fortunately, things cooled down on the back nine and a gentle breeze arrived to make for excellent golfing weather.
There was also a little extra competition out on the course, with David Baglivo and Kevin Dobson squaring off in match play alongside the day's regular competition. Kevin eventually took the honours 2 & 1.
The dry-season conditions once again meant plenty of extra roll, and there were some good scores to show for it.
Anirudh Lakshman Katre had a particularly productive afternoon, picking up Nearest to the Pin on 3 and Longest Drive on 6. Simon Laneri claimed Nearest to the Pin on 17, Greg Thompson took Longest Drive on 16, while the Drive & Pitch prizes went to Jaakko Valli on 4 and Bill Lloyd on 10.
Chris Anderson needed just 27 putts to become our Putting Champion, while Anirudh completed an impressive day by taking Lowest Gross with 71 off the stick.
At the other end of proceedings, Riahana completed the double, collecting Most Exercise with 119 off the stick and the Cricket Bat with 18 points. Perhaps understandably, Riahana was a little reluctant to come forward to collect her haul, so Detlef Bluemke graciously accepted the awards on her behalf.
At the sharp end, Yu Sik Kim produced an excellent 42 points, which would win the Little Dog on plenty of Saturdays. Unfortunately for Yu Sik, Simon Laneri had other ideas.
Young Simon came home with a superb 44 points to claim another Little Dog. Exactly how many he has won is apparently open to debate—even Simon can't remember whether this was his fourth or fifth. There is, however, one statistic he is absolutely certain about, and which he was very keen to point out while accepting the Little Dog: it's four or five more than his father Riccardo has won.
Riccardo, naturally, looked very proud.

There were plenty more improvements to the Eclectic cards this week, producing another major shake-up at the top.
Srinivas Murthy has jumped from second into the lead with an adjusted 60.00, just ahead of last week's leader Roger Finnie on 60.30. Anirudh has charged from sixth to third on 60.50, while John Brown moves from fifth to fourth on 61.70. Arnold Castillon rounds out a very tightly packed Top 5 on 61.80.
With only 1.8 shots separating the Top 5 and two rounds remaining, there is still everything to play for.

Rules Information
You hit a shot and your ball accidentally strikes another player, their golf bag, buggy—or even yourself. Penalty?
Normally, no penalty at all.
Under Rule 11.1, if a ball in motion accidentally hits any person or outside influence, the ball is normally played as it lies.
So, if your approach ricochets off another D.O.G.’s golf bag and finishes three feet from the hole, enjoy the lucky break. If it bounces off your own leg and disappears into a bunker, unfortunately the same principle applies.
There are some exceptions, particularly for a ball played from the putting green, but the general rule is easy to remember:
Accidental deflection = no penalty, play it as it lies.

Day of the Dead Round
Our final round at Gunung Geulis has moved to Sunday, November 1, so Halloween is out and Day of the Dead is in!
Día de los Muertos is not a sombre occasion, but a colourful and joyful celebration of remembrance—honouring family and friends who are no longer with us. That sounds like a theme the D.O.G.S. can get behind.
There will be a prize for the best Day of the Dead-inspired outfit, so think colourful rather than simply scary: decorated skulls, skeletons, flowers, sombreros, bright shirts, face paint—or whatever creative interpretation you can manage while still swinging a golf club.
Knowing the D.O.G.S., we’re expecting the line between celebration and complete nonsense to be suitably blurred.
