D.O.G.S. Penultimate Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya
Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!
Another big turnout at Bogor Raya saw more than 50 players join us for Round 5—the third time this tournament we have broken the 50-player mark.
After late starts the previous two weeks, our on-time start caught a few people off guard. A useful reminder of why we ask everyone to arrive early and be ready to play—you never know when we might actually start on time!
Once underway, we maintained a good pace throughout the afternoon, with everyone getting around in under 4½ hours. A very good effort with such a large field.
We welcomed four new players this week: Steve Hammond, Andhika, Jenny Ekspa and Josh Cameron. Welcome to the D.O.G.S. and we hope to see you all again soon.
Thank you once again to Joost Hennalla and Air Drilling Associates (ADA) for providing the delicious beef jerky before the round—the second week in a row they have kept the D.O.G.S. well fed before teeing off!
Tim Knight took Nearest to the Pin on 3, while Pras claimed the honours on 17. Sam McDermott clearly had the driver working, sweeping both Longest Drives on holes 6 and 16. The Drive & Pitch prizes went to Daniel Park on 4 and Tomoaki on 10.
Jude Alexander needed just 27 putts to become our Putting Champion, while Jeremy Oberoi took Lowest Gross with a fine 76 off the stick.
At the other end of proceedings, Steve Hammond had a day when he certainly got his money’s worth from the golf course. His 132 off the stick comfortably earned him Most Exercise, while 11 points completed the double and secured the Cricket Bat.
At the sharp end, Jeremy Oberoi added to his Lowest Gross honours with an excellent 43 points, but even that wasn’t quite enough.
Ryan Rwanda went one better, posting 44 points to take the Little Dog and become our Round 5 Weekly Champion.

With only one round remaining, things are getting very interesting at the top of the Eclectic.
Srinivas Murthy remains in front and has improved his adjusted score from 60.00 to an impressive 59.00. Anirudh Lakshman Katre has continued his charge up the leaderboard, moving from third into second on 59.50, while Roger Finnie slips to third but remains very much in contention on 60.30.
Arnold Castillon has improved to 61.00 and holds fourth, while Chris Anderson has moved into the Top 5 on 62.00, tied with John Brown, who sits sixth.
With just 1.3 shots separating the Top 3, the Eclectic is going right down to the wire.

The sixth and final round at Bogor Raya is this SUNDAY. It’s the last chance to improve those Eclectic cards, and with the leaderboard still this tight, there is everything left to play for.

Rules Information
Ball Moves During Your Backswing
You’ve started your backswing and accidentally move your ball. Rather than stopping, you complete the stroke and hit it. What happens?
Under Rule 9.1b, if your ball begins to move after you have begun the stroke or the backswing for a stroke and you go on to make the stroke, there is no penalty for the ball moving and you do not replace it.
The stroke counts and you simply play the ball from wherever it finishes.
But there’s an important catch: if you caused the ball to move before beginning the backswing, the normal rules for causing your ball to move still apply.
So if the ball starts moving once your backswing is underway:
Keep swinging, hit it, and play on.

Day of the Dead Round
Our final round at Gunung Geulis has moved to Sunday, November 1, so Halloween is out and Day of the Dead is in!
Día de los Muertos is not a sombre occasion, but a colourful and joyful celebration of remembrance—honouring family and friends who are no longer with us. That sounds like a theme the D.O.G.S. can get behind.
There will be a prize for the best Day of the Dead-inspired outfit, so think colourful rather than simply scary: decorated skulls, skeletons, flowers, sombreros, bright shirts, face paint—or whatever creative interpretation you can manage while still swinging a golf club.
Knowing the D.O.G.S., we’re expecting the line between celebration and complete nonsense to be suitably blurred.
