D.O.G.S. Second Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!
Another big D.O.G.S. turnout descended on Klub Golf Bogor Raya for Round 2, and once again we were rewarded with a hot but beautiful day on one of the most picturesque courses on our schedule.
A quick reminder about the semi-shotgun start. Bogor Raya does not provide our actual starting holes until shortly before tee-off, and this will continue throughout the tournament. The holes shown in myGolf2u before the round are only placeholders used to show the playing groups — do not assume they are your starting holes. Please check with the starter before heading onto the course.
Play got underway quickly, but things slowed when our leading groups caught up with non-D.O.G.S. groups still completing their rounds. Once they cleared the course, the pace picked up again and everyone managed to finish before darkness. Bogor Raya is extremely popular and regularly fully booked, so a little patience is sometimes required both before and during the round. The reward is getting to play a stunning golf course that remains well worth the wait.
It was another seriously hot afternoon, and the continued dry conditions meant plenty of roll on the fairways — something our Longest Drive contenders were more than happy to take advantage of.
We welcomed back Michael Dillon and Willi Goldschmidt, while Ardian Asmari, Jezz Sumner — Lionel's brother — James Askew, Samuel McDermott, Jayme and Ariayati joined us for the first time. Aprilianty also brought along her guests Rama and Litha. Welcome to you all!
The marquee match pitted Roger Finnie & Lionel Sumner against Anirudh Lakshman Katre & Willi Goldschmidt, and for much of the round Roger and Lionel appeared to be cruising towards the rupiah.
Then Anirudh caught fire.
Four birdies in five holes completely changed the complexion of the match and helped Anirudh and Willi turn things around and take the money. That's one way to settle a bet!
The Prizes
There were plenty of familiar names among the skill prizes. Jaakko Valli collected both a Nearest to the Pin and a Drive & Pitch, while Aprilianty took the other Nearest to the Pin. Jezz Sumner and Sam McDermott claimed the Longest Drives, with Anirudh adding the second Drive & Pitch.
Jude Alexander needed just 26 putts to become Putting Champion, while Michael Dillon marked his return by collecting the Booby Prize with 16 points.
Meanwhile, Paul Barnett was up to his old tricks. He brought along his spouse Saowanee "Tikki" Siriwat, presumably hoping this would save him from having to get up and collect Most Exercise himself. It almost worked. Tikki duly claimed the prize with 129 off the stick, but she is clearly wise to Paul's tactics and delayed her exit from the locker room just long enough for Paul to have to get up and accept it on her behalf anyway.
There was some excellent scoring off the stick this week, with three players breaking 80. Axel "Axe" Hertzke fired a 75, while Lionel Sumner went even better with a 72. But neither could catch Anirudh, whose outstanding round of 71 earned him Lowest Gross for the day.
Jezz Sumner made quite an introduction to the D.O.G.S., finishing Runner Up with an excellent 42 Stableford points, before Naresh Krishnan topped the day with an outstanding 44 points to become our Weekly Champion and take home the Little Dog.

After two rounds, Roger Finnie and Axel Hertzke remain firmly in control of the Eclectic leaderboard, holding onto first and second place respectively while both managed to improve their scores this week. Roger leads the way on 63.5, with Axel sitting second on 67.0.
There was movement behind them, however, with Srinivas Murthy climbing into third on 67.5, while Arnold Castillon and Fitra Akmal are tied close behind on 68.0. With four rounds still to play, there is plenty of time for the chasing pack to close the gap.

Interleague – D.O.G.S. 7, TeeSet 3
While the main D.O.G.S. action was at Bogor Raya on Saturday, Captain Dougy led the Interleague team into battle against arch-rivals TeeSet at Riverside on Sunday. The D.O.G.S. came away with an excellent 7–3 victory, keeping us at the top of the Inter-league standings.
Next up are the always-tough Wolves, with another important match as the D.O.G.S. look to maintain their position at the top.
A reminder that Round 3 at Bogor Raya is on SUNDAY this week, not our usual Saturday.

Rules Information
When One Ball Hits Another
An interesting situation came up at Bogor Raya this week. A player's tee shot landed on the putting green and struck another player's ball that was already at rest on the green. What happens next?
Under Rule 11.1, when this happens accidentally, there is no penalty to either player. The ball that was already on the green is replaced on its original spot, while the tee shot is played from wherever it comes to rest.
Change the situation slightly, however, and the outcome can be very different.
If both balls were on the putting green before the stroke, and a player putts and accidentally hits another ball at rest on the green, the player making the stroke receives the general penalty — two strokes in stroke play. The ball that was struck is replaced on its original spot, while the player's own ball is played as it lies.
The important distinction is where the stroke was made. In the first situation the stroke was made from the teeing area, so there was no penalty.
What if a ball could help another player?
Under Rule 15.3, if a ball at rest might help another player — perhaps by acting as a backstop near the hole — it may be marked and lifted.
In stroke play, players must not agree to leave a ball in position specifically because it could help another player. If they knowingly do so, both players receive the general penalty of two strokes.
Similarly, if a player is required to mark and lift a ball because it is helping another player's play and refuses to do so, that player receives the general penalty.
Simply leaving a ball on the green does not automatically result in a penalty if it is subsequently struck by a tee shot or approach. There must be an agreement to leave a helpful ball in place, or a refusal to lift it when required, for the additional penalty provisions to apply.
