Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So, we came to our annual event over our final weekend at Rancamaya with the race for the Blue Jacket & Big Dog, all the Mini Dogs and, not forgetting, the little Dog. In the midst of all this we had the matchplay against TeeSet for the Juergen Degert Trophy and the Florida Scramble for the orphanage. As if that wasn't enough, we also had the BBQ dinner on the Saturday evening just to get everyone in the mood for the scramble. Weekends like this don't happen without sponsors who have either donated directly to the charity or have donated prizes for our raffle. These sponsors are listed below and we say a huge "Thank You" to all of them for their support.
Over the 2 days of the weekend, we put 100 rounds of golf through the club and over the whole six weeks of the Eclectic Series 326 rounds were played. These numbers help us in negotiating the favourable rates we are able to offer - so thank you to everyone for your continued support.
So, let's start with the Saturday where we decided to play the final round of the Eclectic and the match against TeeSet, leaving the Sunday to the scramble. Saturday saw 57 players battle it out and, although we got off on time, the weather wasn't as kind to us as it had been over the previous 5 weeks. Rains came and stopped us for just over an hour but, we got going again and were able to finish - more or less - including all the matchplay pairings.
The skills prizes were available to all with a good spread across players. Tim Knight took both the Nearest to the Pin prizes showing his accuracy on the Par 3's. Similarly, for their approach shots, Carter Cross and Roberto Daniele, managed to take the Drive & Pitch honours. The Longest Drives went to Daniel Park and Nanin Provance. Michael Mueller had the flat stick working winning this week's Putting Champion honour - good job the green's were better this week. Jude Alexander had an uncharacteristically difficult round taking the Cricket Bat home as the Booby Prize. Well at least someone enjoyed the walk around the foothills of Gunung Salak - even though it got a little wet at times - as Jane Finnie managed to go home with the Most Exercise Trophy.
With Anirudh on the course, it was going to be a challenge for anyone else to take the Lowest Gross prize and he did deliver. It took a count back to separate the top two with Andrew Goode having to settle for the Runner Up slot leaving Reysia Moore clear to take the Little Dog home and be this week's Champion.
This week was also the race for the Blue Jacket and the Big Dog. As is so often the case, it all comes down to the final round to give us the surprises we have become so accustomed to - and this time was no different with a lot of movement and improvements. This led to a complete shuffle at the top with Claudio Ghelli leapfrogging the field to claim his second Blue Jacket and Big Dog. Anirudh Katre took the Lowest Gross Average over 4 rounds. Full results can be seen on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
And we had our usual Blue Jacket parade to help Claudio celebrate!
So, whilst this was all going on, we had our annual matchplay against TeeSet for the Juergen Degert Trophy. Both sides believed they had fielded strong teams so it was going to be close - and it was - with TeeSet claiming the trophy for the first time since 2018.
Get ready guys - we will seek our revenge next year, so enjoy it while you can!
The Rancamaya Charity collections over the previous weeks added up to IDR5.000.000 in support of the Asian Tigers to help with their support of the Sumatran Tigers preservation.
So, that was Saturday golf all done. The evening was reserved for a great BBQ upstairs in the club house where much partying was done by all - late into the night by all accounts! Lots of raffle prizes will all the proceeds going to the Panti Asuhan Kristen Karena Doa orphanage, many of the prizes being donated by our sponsors.
Special thanks to Bill and Frida Lloyd who brought along their Karaoke machine which added to the evening fun.
There is a selection of photos from the evening below.
Sunday saw 43 players still alive following the night before and eager to join the 4 person Florida Scramble with all the match fees going into the orphanage pot. Everyone enjoyed the rather different format for a scramble giving rise to some good strategy discussions amongst team members.
The results showed some very good scores with a Net 51 taking the Low Net prize and a gross 61 taking the Low Gross. The full results are shown in the table. Good fun and definitely worth a repeat next year.
Now, this weekend was all about having fun, playing golf and raising money for the orphanage as we did last year.
It is with great pleasure we can announce you have raised IDR30.000.000.
This is actually more than last year - a huge Thanks to everyone for supporting this very worthy cause. We will be visiting the orphanage in Sawangan most likely next week so please look out for the announcement. All are welcome to come out and meet the children and staff - last year they all sang to us.
Sponsors:
Thank you to Vijay Sarashetti and StarWORKS for sponsoring the weekend. Your generous donation will be very much appreciated by the children at the orphanage.
Thank you also to our other sponsors who provided many of our prizes.
So, here is a selection of photos from the Saturday evening festivities.....no comments needed!
