Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So we came to the fifth and penultimate round of this Eclectic Series and the year. Our friends from Pocksia joined us resulting in a great turnout of 55 players. Some new comers and some we haven't seen for a while: welcome to Phillip and Jessica Briggs, Mathieu Lavie and Jaakko Valli and the old faces returning: Jannes Tjaden and Roger Thompson. Good to see you back guys!
Well, the weather in the morning did not bode well for the afternoon with some pretty heavy rain causing a delay in the morning's play at the course. However, even with a short delay in our starting, we enjoyed another good afternoon of weather - all dry - and, although lift, clean and place was in force, the course had drained remarkably quickly to make for excellent conditions - a tribute to the staff at Pondok Cabe. So we had the usual semi shot gun start off the back nine - a gentle reminder to all that shotgun starts should mean we all finish more or less at the same time - assuming we all respect the pace of play etiquette!
So, to the play: A good mix of winners this week with Paul Barnett and Claudio Ghelli showing some good skills off the tees to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes - just showing that high and low handicapper can do it! Youth ruled the Longest Drives with a couple of monsters off the tees from Jannes Tjaden and Carter Cross. Age before beauty took the podium for the Drive & Pitch prizes for Frank Wilson and Sarah Brown.
A different face showed us all how to putt - so well done Velma Yolanda but newcomer Phillip Briggs enjoyed his afternoon soaking in the good weather taking both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies home - I'm sure he had fun!
Low Gross and the Runner Up prizes went to a couple of guys who always seem to be in the winning circle somewhere, namely Nic Verdenal and Roger Finnie respectively.
Our Weekly Champion this week was Colin Shanks who took home his first Little Dog. He seems to have really found his groove being Runner Up last week with a great round and going one better this week off a reduced handicap. It'll come down again Colin!

So, with only one more round to go Nic is really trying to hold on to his lead with another additional birdie this week. But the chasing pack are still shuffling around with still the chance to catch him - will they or won't they - only next week will tell! You can check out the full results here.
Next week brings us to our final round of the year followed by the End of Year Party. Like always, there will be a buffet dinner and drinks, but please feel free to BYOB. As well as this Eclectic's prizes we will award the Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy to the Top Dog of 2024.
We will assume all those playing golf will join the fun but please let us know if you intend to bring spouses/other half's so we can make we cater for the right numbers. You can let either Rod or John Brown know as soon as possible please. The party will start immediately after golf - lot's of food, drink and music to dance well into the evening!
We will shotgun start at 12:00 so please be there in good time. If you have a specific group you wish to play with, inform Rod of your preferred playing partners and ensure that your choices align with theirs.
Another annual event is also looming - the Capricorn Birthday Bash -what started as Rod's Birthday bash but has since grown. This year it will be held at Cengkareng Golf Club on Friday 27th December 12 noon tee off. Registration is open on myGolf2u now.
