D.O.G.S. Fourth Round at Modern Golf & Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Waking up on Saturday morning to heavy rain was not the best omen for golf, especially with the forecast looking a bit shaky for the rest of the day. The morning tournament at Modern got off to a late start which again didn't bode well. However, with the morning tournament calling it a day early and with the rain significantly easing off, the 46 players who braved the conditions were rewarded with a pretty much fine afternoon which got underway on time. Pace of play was good, especially with most groups observing the Call-on holes, such that all were finished is good daylight time. Just goes to show how unpredictable the weather can be, especially on the forecast apps!

Some newcomers this week - so a big welcome to Raj Chandak, Jay Park and Benjamin Bunawidjaja - hope to see you all again soon.

So to the play: a good spread of winners this week, which is always good to see - spread the love and all that! Carter Cross and Roberto Daniele had their tee shot accuracy working taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes. Gary Millburn and Jay Park had similar accuracy with their approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch honours. Anna Eriksson and Nic Verdenal showed their long hitting skills taking the Longest Drive prizes.

Ash Hewitt missed a lot of greens enabling him to be this week's Putting Champion! Abijit Singh was the Booby Prize winner this week and newcomer Raj Chandak decided to take the scenic route around the course taking the Most Exercise Trophy.

Roger Finne continues his run of great scores as his handicap moves ever lower into single figures taking the Low Gross prize. Yet again, it took a count back to separate the top players with Jude Alexander having to settle for the Runner Up honour leaving the way for Malcolm Collis winning the Little Dog and becoming this week's Champion.

A big congratulations to all our winners this week!

So, with four rounds now complete the Eclectic leaderboard is taking shape with John Gustke (who made it in for 1 more round due to a flight change) holding on to the top slot, but, he's away now and will miss the final two rounds. Could this open the race up with only 1.7 separating the top 5 and still plenty of room for improvement.....all to play for as usual. Full results after the fourth round can be seen on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.

The day also saw our very own Sarah Brown celebrate her birthday with a really good chocolate cake - Happy Birthday Sarah!

So now we head into the business end of this Eclectic series with our fifth and penultimate round, so, grab a friend and please sign up early to avoid disappointment and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
