Hail the D.O.G.S.
Despite Tee Set playing at Matoa Nasional at the same time as D.O.G.S. The starter got us off from the 1st tee early and we had a trouble free round with everyone finishing well before the rains came. Only 17 cards handed in for our first round of the new eclectic competition as I guess the Star Deli/HOGS tournament the day before meant there we’re still too many sore heads to venture out again at the weekend. D.O.G.S. Contributed Rp 4,500,000 to the Yayasan HOGS – thanks to everyone who contributed – always a very well deserved cause.
A couple of newcomers, Liam Hammer and Gerhann Swart – welcome guys and always good to see new faces. Liam Hammer in particular, had a memorable day taking the longest drive on hole 9 as well as the Bobby and Most Exercise prizes. Nick Gleeson ran off with the Nearest to the Pin on hole 12 and the Drive & Pitch on hole 6. Dirty J took the Drive & Pitch on hole 13 with Chris Burley the Nearest the Pin on hole 4. However, just to show you don’t have to be tall, dark and handsome to win a longest drive – that little guy Craig Edwards out drove everyone on hole 14 – not even he could believe it never mind the rest of us!! He also ran off as this week’s Putting Champion with 28 putts and runner-up with 41 points – I think he’s just grown a little taller!!
Chris Burley had the round of his life taking the Lowest Gross with 83 off the stick and this week’s Little D.O.G. with 42 points (his first little DOG) – enjoy your new handicap Chris. Rod Williams had to retire hurt having fallen down a hole somewhere down the 10th – ankle not broken but badly sprained having had it properly checked out now.
