Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
And so we came to our final round of this Eclectic Series up in the mountains of Bogor. All the Dogs came out to play with the race for the Blue Jacket reaching its climax on this tough course. Over the 6 weeks we have put 221 rounds through this club with the majority of rounds being completed. The weather for this week was just about perfect. Not too hot and a cooling breeze welcomed the 43 players who came for the final round, and it stayed that way for the whole afternoon resulting in a beautiful sunset which you could just about see from the terrace of the club house.
We had some newcomers and a few old Dogs we haven't seen for a while. So, welcome to Andrew Handjojo and JP Singh and welcome back former Blue Jacket winner Carl Taylor, Andrew Dillon, Charles Lim, Irene Palatta and Songpol Sak's Thai group. Good to see you all again!
So, we went off in time from holes 1 and 10 and play was steady with everyone finishing in good time for the usual festivities and prize giving. The course conditions were as we have become accustomed - difficult around and on the greens - with some tough lies to contend with!
So, to the play: It always seems as if the people near the top of the Eclectic leaderboard try and put that little bit extra in, especially on the holes where they are looking to improve and today was no exception with contenders Fernando and Chris Barnett taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes - but neither managed to convert to birdies! Jacob Smith had his big stick on fire taking both the Longest Drive prizes with Shinta Sari and young Carter Cross taking the Drive & Pitch honours.
Roger "the green dodger" Finnie always seems to be there or thereabouts with the flat stick, and this week was no exception taking the Putting Champion prize yet again!
Old Dog Carl Taylor welcomed his return with a troublesome round taking the Booby Prize and newcomer Andrew Handjojo at least went away with a trophy which said "Winner" on it - but it the was the Most Exercise Winner! - it still says Winner though!
A count back saw Fernando Gaggino who was chasing the Blue Jacket, take the Low Gross prize this week as well as the Runner Up honour. This led the way for Irene Palatta to have a great comeback round to take her first Little Dog and be crowned this week's Champion.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
Of course, this week, being the last in this Eclectic Series saw the race for the Mini Dogs, Big Dog and Blue Jacket. Could Akhil hold on to his lead which he has had right from the first round, or could the chasing pack take away the honours. Well, there was some improvements below Akhil which saw some movement but it was not enough to unseat him at the top to take his second Blue Jacket. Fernando and Roger Finnie took the Mini Dogs coming in second and third place with Roger taking the Low Gross Average trophy as well!
You can see the full results here.
And all the previous Blue Jacket winners helped Akhil celebrate his big win! - I think the camera person was well into the whisky by the time this photo was taken!

Next week, we are taking a well-deserved break before diving into our final eclectic tournament of 2024. Our friends in Pocksia will be having their next monthly medal at Pangkalan Jati on the 2nd November and anyone wishing to join please contact either Rod or Roger Finnie directly.
We will be back in action at a beautiful open course in the South of Jakarta - Pondok Cabe. Although this course may not be known for its difficulty, it promises an enjoyable day for players, providing a tranquil setting where golfers can relax and enjoy the game. This will be the final Eclectic Series of the year culminating in our End of Year Party after the final round on the 14th December - but there's a lot of golf to come before that!
Make sure to secure your spot early for the first round as usual. If you have a specific group you wish to play with, inform Rod of your preferred playing partners and ensure that your choices align with theirs,
