Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Upon early arrival the committee was greeted by less than favourable weather. However by the time all 42 players were hitting their first tee shots the sun was out and a great day for golfing was underway. There were no records set for pace of play but despite having to wait a bit from time to time most groups finished in about 4 1/2 hours. This left plenty of daylight for all to get showered and settled at the Sunset Bar before darkness.
This week was a real throwback game with many old time Dogs coming out for their first round with us in many years; welcome back to Carl Taylor, Darren Kelso, Michael Xiao and Frank Musgrove. We also had a coalition of Fins; Jari Antikainen joined Timo Karonen and Sami Kekonen who are heading back to Finland after a too short visit. Umi Umay was also back, fresh from hustling the retired ladies on the courses in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Great to have you all back!

Nic Verdenal was striking the ball long and accurately as noted by him winning both Drive & Pitch awards and a Longest Drive. Indar Dhaliwal won the other Longest Drive while Claudio Ghelli and Roberto Daniele shared the Nearest to Pin prizes.
Roger Finnie proved that his approach shot still needs work, taking the Putting Champion prize. Last week Sami Kekonen was proudly sharing his long drive abilities in the locker room after the round; oddly, this week we didn't hear much from Sami about his round which saw him snatching the Booby Prize. Being the last week at this venue Paul Barnett wanted to have a good look over the entire course and won Most Exercise.
Some good scores were posted with Bobby Cangkrama, Sam Westen and Tim Knight all shooting 78! Tim emerged the Low Gross winner by count back. The Weekly Champion was also tied, with 2 players scoring 42 points. Unfortunately Bobby lost out again on count back, with Timo Karonen taking home the Little Dog. We'll look forward to seeing some photos from his new home in Finland. Safe travels Timo.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
So we come to the Eclectic and the race for the top honours. With the Chairman away this week it was John Gustke's to lose, or was it? Could Alessandro, Sam or Indar or anyone in the top 10 pull off a shock win.....well no....John Gustke managed to get one improvement and hold on to win his first Blue Jacket....a hole-in-one and a Blue Jacket - he must be on top of the world...don't worry John, Royale Krakatau and then Jakarta Golf Club will bring you back down to earth!
Sam Westen held on to the Lowest Gross Average with an impressively low number.
Check out the full results on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.
Our designated charity for this tournament was Ypai Indriya, a special needs school located in Bogor. After each round the charity barrel is passed around; our aspiration is 100K donated per player per tournament. Collections for our 2024 Imperial tournament totalled 3,724,000 IDR which will be passed to Ypai. Rod will announce the date we will visit the school and anyone who would like to come along to see the facility is welcome to join.
Next weekend we are away in Cilegon for the D.O.G.S. & TeeSet Royale Krakatau Challenge there are some spaces still available so if you would like to join get in touch with Rod or send an email to jakartadogs@gmail.com ASAP and we'll get you sorted out. If any of you have preferred pairings for the Saturday round, please let Rod know asap.
Our Eclectic schedule returns the following week with the D.O.G.S. first visit to the oldest golf course in Indonesia. Previously known as the Batavia Golf Club, this course may look easy but provides quite a challenge with large trees guarding the fairways, many bunkers and mischievously placed water hazards. We will be joined by our friends from Pocksia for our first round.
Please sign up as soon as possible and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
