Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So, we came to our final round at this superb course. This has been our most successful series with 368 rounds of golf played over the 6 weeks by 128 players - fantastic support from all of you and a great credit to the management and staff at Klub Golf Bogar Raya for looking after us so well. You can see their appreciation in the message below.
A total of 51 players embarked on the journey, greeted by yet another day of beautiful weather. Among them were newcomers and guests, including the likes of Nick Heese and Koo Koo, as well as a warm welcome back to Matt Heagney and Simone Toniolo. We look forward to seeing all of you more frequently in the days to come. The anticipation of who would emerge victorious in the battle for the Big Dog and the highly sought-after Blue Jacket loomed, with only the afternoon's unfolding events holding the key to the ultimate outcome.
The course was not so busy in the morning, so we got off with our usual shotgun on time and pace of play was good - thanks to all - so everyone was finished in very good time ready to enjoy the festivities in the Tondano Restaurant afterwards.
So, to the play: A good spread of skills prize winners this week with Rod and Sarah taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes the result of some good tee-shots - as were the approach shots by Jay Park and Max Sollfrank on the Drive & Pitch holes. Anirudh made his long driving presence known by taking one of the long drive prizes whilst Colin Shanks got his first Long Drive prize - good strike Colin, now you need to work on the rest of your game!
A count back had to decide the Putting Champion this week with Hitoshi winning out. Paul Eckhardt, now with his new handicap was eligible for Stableford prizes and he didn't disappoint taking the little cricket bat Booby Prize home. Guest Nick Heese just passing through Jakarta didn't go away empty handed winning the Most Exercise Trophy.
Anirudh is trying to hold on to his scratch handicap taking this week's Low Gross - me thinks his handicap might creep up a notch however! Alessandro Perciante took the Runner up prize leaving our own Kevin "Yo Dogs" Dobson to have a great round taking his first Little Dog in a while - and saying goodbye to that handicap - I think it will drop by around 2 points now!
So, to the Eclectic. Could Bobby hold on to his lead or would David Moore get enough improvements to close the gap, or possibly someone from further behind leapfrog into the lead. Well, all that was not to be; despite Bobby not bettering his 1 remaining bogey David Moore could only manage one improvement. All this resulted in Bobby Cangkrama winning his first Big Dog and Blue Jacket and taking the Low Gross Average. David Moore settled for the Runner Up place taking a Mini Dog home to join all the other real dogs he has at home along with all the cats and his most recent addition, Sara the monkey! John Brown ended up in third place also taking a Mini Dog home. The rest of the top ten finishers are listed below and you can see the full final Eclectic standings here.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
We are happy to announce that 4,320,000 IDR was collected in our charity barrel during the Bogor Raya tournament which will go to Pondok Al Wafa. This incredible orphanage takes in abandoned children from all over Indonesia, providing them with a loving home and quality education. More information can be found on our Charity Page.
Next week we start all over again and move to a course we haven't played for 8 years! Situated in the mountains and bounded by rivers, each hole is unique, and most have excellent views. The challenge begins with a 30-meter elevation drop to the fairway off the first tee. Course management will be paramount as doglegs, sand traps, water, trees, or waste areas come into play throughout the course. All this should make for a fun and challenging tournament! We are playing the West Course and will start with an early time of 11:28am off holes 1 and 10. The easy access now open to Gunung Geulis which makes the journey much easier. Please be there in good time just in case we can get some flights off a little earlier.
If you have a group you would like to play with let Rod know your preferred playing partners and make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
