D.O.G.S. Final Round at Modern Golf & Country Club

Updated: Mar 25

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

So, we came to our final round at Modern Golf & Country Club with still all to play for in the race for the Big Dog, Mini Dogs and Little Dog. Another great day for golf, weather-wise, greeted us at the course and our usual semi shotgun got us all off on time. A great "Thank You" to Pak Agus, the head starter, for managing things so well over the six weeks. The course was in good condition despite all the rain we keep having and play was steady with everyone finishing in good time.

Once again, a big thank you as all scores were entered into myGolf2u by the assigned scorers making the final results compilation so much easier and quicker.

A couple of new faces this week with Mike Corsini and Koo making their first appearances with the Dogs. Also, a few faces we haven't seen for a while, Charles Lim, Tim Knight and Detlef Blumke - welcome back guys!

So, to the play: a good mix of winners this week - always good to spread the love! Tee and approach shot accuracy was the order of the day for Ian Pemberton, Chris Anderson, Nic Verdenal and Alessandro Perciante winning the Nearest to the Pin and Drive & Pitch prizes. Alberto Gonzales and Axel Hertzke managed to keep their drives in the fairway taking the Longest Drive prizes. Jens Roestel showed that his unorthodox putting style can pay off as he was this week's Putting champion.

Albert Smith enjoyed his whisky perhaps too much taking this week's Booby Prize and Detlef Blumke enjoyed the pleasant walk in the sunny afternoon resulting in him winning the Most Exercise Trophy.

Normal service was resumed this week with Nic Verdenal taking the Low Gross prize and, as is the case so many times, it took a count back to separate the top two players with Diarmuid Flanagan having to settle for the Runner Up slot so our Weekly Champion this week and the Little Dog went to Leon Bivolaru.

This being the final round in the Eclectic Series the Mini Dogs and Big Dog were up for grabs. Could Don hold on to his lead and win his second Blue Jacket - the first was 5 years ago at Riverside - or could either Minn or Diarmuid - both Mini Dog winners in the past - make up the difference and take the honours. Well, Diarmuid's Runner Up in the weekly tournament was enough to give him the improvements he needed together with Don's handicap index dropping following his great round last week resulting in the great Irishman taking the Big Dog home and his first Blue Jacket.

Nic Verdenal, took the Lowest Gross Average Trophy - he's building up quite a collection - great and consistent golf!

Full results after the final round can be seen on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.

A big congratulations to all our winners this week!

And the day wouldn't be complete without all the past Blue Jacket winners helping to welcome Diarmuid to the group!

Thanks to your generosity IDR 6,155,000 was collected for Fiona Unity Foundation from our Charity barrel during the Modern tournament. Give yourselves a pat on the back for the great support.

Correction:

Last week the Nearest to Pin flag for hole 11 was not found and the prize was awarded to John Packer who claimed to have won. This week the starter gave us the flag and we can now report that Don Duttlinger was the winner. Sorry John, you owe Don a box of balls.

Next week we move down the Jagorawi toll road to our Ramadan home and a course everyone looks forward to playing - Rancamaya Golf & Country Club.
