Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So, we came to our next Eclectic Series up in the hills at the challenging but stunning Gunung Geulis West Course. Just the view from the first tee sends shivers down the spine thinking about what's to come. It must be one of the only holes in golf where the vertical distance to the green is longer than the horizontal. Well, 43 players were not deterred as they made the so much easier journey through the new housing development to get to the course. A couple of newcomers this week so a big welcome to Shaun Dickson and Joe Perucho and a big welcome back to Ratan Bali and Quenten Smith. Good to have all of you as always.
Conditions weather-wise were just about perfect and even though we didn't have a semi shotgun start, we got off on time and all finished in good time - thanks for all keeping the pace moving well. Even though we are not starting with a semi shotgun please try and get to the course in good time before our first tee time - it helps with the admin - thanks. The course was in great condition despite the greens being a little inconsistent and difficult to read - at least for most people!
So, to the play: The Par 3's are long here, especially off the blue tees but Wille Noronha and Roger Finnie managed to get closer to the pin than the rest of us taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes. Similarly with their approach shots for Alberto Gonzales and Naresh Krishnan to take the Drive & Pitch honours. It came as no surprise to see Anirudh take one of the Longest Drive prizes: the other going to Shaun Dickson.
Well, at least someone managed to master the greens - guess who? - yeap, you got it - Roger "the green dodger" Finnie yet again had his flat stick on fire taking this week's Putting Champion prize home.
Now, we think this might be a D.O.G.S. record: firstly, the honesty of Marc Desilets is to be admired in recording every shot he made so, what's the record? Well, he couldn't quite manage to beat Anirudh for the Low Gross prize this week with Marc shooting a 78 and Anirudh a 76 - oh no!, sorry, Marc's 78 was just his back nine and not all 18 holes like Anirudh. No worries both went home with prizes - oh, and Marc took the cricket bat Booby prize as well - well played Marc and Anirudh.
Paul Barnett seems to like challenging courses taking this week's Runner Up prize so that Akhil Aggarwal had a great under handicap round taking the Little Dog (well, we'll remember to give it next week, sorry) to be the first Weekly Champion of this series.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
So, with this being only the first week in the Eclectic Series, nothing much to report but you can see the full final Eclectic standings here.

Rules Information
It's always good to have a clear understanding of the rules; here are a couple of scenarios where Abnormal Course Conditions and playing the ball as it was when it came to rest, allow for relief.
