Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,
Big turnout this week with 46 players. We had the maximum allowed of 48 registrations at Modern but unfortunately a couple of players cancelled at the very last moment. We had the usual mini shotgun start and play was steady, if not a little slow at the start, due to the course being very busy. However the weather was again great and everyone finished in reasonably good time.
Good to see Diana Budiarti’s husband, Irawan Rachma joining us and Divya Ahuja out of quarantine; welcome.
Divya had a good return to the DOGS taking home Nearest the Pin and Drive & Pitch prizes whilst Jeremy Oberoi took Longest Drive and Putting Champion honours. Willie Noronha took the other Nearest to the Pin prize with Shlok Rajeev and Tribhuvan Singh taking the other Longest Drive and Drive & Pitch honours respectively.
Cleary Diana Budiarti’s husband was too much of a distraction as she won the Booby and Most Exercise prizes; no worries, we’ll put you in different flights next time!!!
Jeremy Oberoi clearly had a good day by shooting 78 off the stick taking the Lowest Gross. He just missed out on the Little Dog which was won by Tribhuvan Singh on count back with 42 points. In fact we had 3 players on 42, Indar Dhaliwal being the third; we don’t see that too often.

With four rounds in the bag the Eclectic standings are moving around a bit with Holger Molendyk taking a slim lead from Tribhuvan Singh; there’s a lot of golf left in this yet.

As mentioned above, Modern, unfortunately, is limiting us to 40 players (they allowed us 2 extra flights this week) so please register early to avoid disappointment. We would also ask, if for some reason you have to cancel to do so as early as you can to open up slots for others.
Next week is our penultimate round at Modern, so grab a friend and sign up. Please let Rod know your group preferences as soon as possible. We are likely to have a shotgun start again so please be there in good time.

The Rules and what it means when we play.

We got another request for the clarification of a situation. A player starts a round of golf with more than 14 clubs in the bag. What is the ruling?
The player must immediately take the number of clubs out of play, which are over 14.
That means, putting it out of the bag or clearly marking it/them as out of play.
In Matchplay:
The player has to reduce his result by a maximum of 2 won holes.
Example:
The breach was detected after the third hole and the player was 3 up, this will be reduced to 1 up.
If the player was 3 down nothing will happen.
If the player was 1 up the result will be changed to 1 down.
If only one hole was played the result for the player will be 1 down.
In Stroke play:
A maximum of a 4 strokes penalty applies. If only one hole was played a 2 strokes penalty applies.
A ball ends up on a green which does not belong to the hole you are playing on or the stance of the player to hit a ball close to a wrong green. What is the rule?
The ball should not be played from that green. The player needs to take relief and the ball must be dropped at the closest point of relief not closer to the hole. The player also is not allowed to stand on the green.
In case the green is a double green (a big green, which one half is used for one hole and the other half for another hole) it is counted only as one green for the rule above, but the Golf Club might have separated them into 2 separate halves by a local rule, then the player needs to take relief from the wrong half).

President's Challenge Match Play
The draw is completed for the 2022 match play competition. Please check our dedicated page to see who you are playing. March 20th is the end of the first round so let's get those matches scheduled.
POCKSIA at Pondok Cabe
Our next tournament will be played at Pondok Cabe. During our second round on February 26th, we will have a friendly match against POCKSIA. Captain Doug McQuater will be looking for players to represent the D.O.G.S. Please let him know if you would like to play.
