D.O.G.S. Fourth Round at Riverside Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

So we came to our fourth round in this Eclectic Series which also included our annual match play against our old rivals POCKSIA. This led to a combined turnout of 67 players including 44 players involved in the 11 matches. From the D.O.G.S. side good to see Gary White, Irene Palatta and Craig Stewart back with us after some while - hope to see more of you guys but welcome back!

Well, we weren't sure what the weather was going to do to us as the forecast was somewhat mixed. There had been some considerable rain in the morning which delayed our start by 20mins and, even though it was light rain when we started, it soon cleared resulting in a pleasant afternoon. As such, all players finished in reasonable time ready for the Buffet Dinner laid on by our friends in Pocksia.

Tabulating the results took a bit longer due to the many players who did not enter scores into myGolf2u. Going forward, to further help with getting scores in, we will begin assigning a scorer to each group who will be responsible for putting in the score for the group. If you do not wish to be volunteered to enter scores, please let us know or if you need assistance with entering scores please check with the committee when submitting your scorecard. I am sure you will all help out here please! - thanks in anticipation.

So, to the play:

With all players eligible for all prizes we saw some new names as winners this week. Axel Hertzke and Nic Verdenal hit the greens with pin-point accuracy taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes along with Reysia Moore and Meher Noronha for the Drive & Pitch Prizes. Meher featured again with Irene Palatta to take the Longest Drive prizes - go the girls!

Tri Agustin took the long way round this course winning both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies - it can only get better Tri!

Meher Noronha had the round of her life hitting 15 greens in regulation on her way to post a very impressive score of 75 to take the Lowest Gross prize. Roger Finne had to settle for the Runner Up prize as, not surprisingly with that great round, Meher took the Little Dog home becoming this week's Champion.

A big congratulations to all our winners this week!

So with 4 rounds complete - well at least two and a half rounds - the Eclectic leaderboard is starting to take real shape now with only 2.4 separating the top 5 with Nic Verdenal leading at the moment - but it's a slim lead. There are still 36 holes left to play with many on the leaderboard having plenty of room for improvement. It's all to play for! You can see the results on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.

Now, as mentioned above Captain Dougie and Captain Nic had put together two strong teams to battle it out in the annual D.O.G.S. vs POCKSIA Match Play. It was always going to be a tough contest and this year the POCKSIA team were just too strong for us winning and taking the trophy 7.5 to 3.5. The full match results are shown below.

Congratulation to POCKSIA - the gauntlet is down for next year!!!

This week President John Brown met with the ladies of to ANZA to drop off their check for donations collected during the Pondok Cabe tournament. The D.O.G.S. generosity will pay for 7 students to attend school this year.

Marianne Ariyanto passed on this message from ANZA:

"Thank you to all DOGS members for this wonderful donation!"

The beneficiary of donations during this tournament will go to the ISCO Foundation. Rain offs and chaos during our first 3 rounds delayed us getting started with collections but the barrel was passed around after Round 4 for the first time. Please remember our target is 1 donation of 100K per player per tournament and help us reach our target.

So as we move to the fifth and penultimate round of this Series grab a friend and please sign up early to avoid disappointment and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
