Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
A beautiful day greeted the 41 players who made the trip west to Karawaci for our 5th and penultimate round in this Eclectic Series. The weather stayed good all afternoon with a dry course - perfect for golf!
Some newcomers and some faces we haven't seen for a while - so a big welcome to first timers Andrea Saccarello, Hendra Effendy and Ronnie Yoong and a welcome back after a while to Bastian Armbruster, Dennis Kuehne and Lukas Musial. A special welcome back to the flying Finns, Timo Karonen and Sami Kekonen. Great to see all of you and thanks for joining us for a round.
During Sami's farewell round with the D.O.G.S. last year he grabbed a Longest Drive prize. He's back in Jakarta for a visit and joined us for our penultimate round and managed to take another LD. We almost missed this little bit of information but fortunately Sami mentioned it to every single person he saw in the locker room, even some non-D.O.G.S. who had no idea what the mad Finn was talking about! Well done Sami.
Last week John Gustke got a hole in on "Temple" the 5th hole island green. This week John received his certificate and wanted a few photos of the hole to further memorialize the experience. After making sure the lighting and angles were right John posed and got the shots he wanted.
Now ready to recreate the magic from the week before he carefully lined himself up, inhaled, relaxed and took a nice easy swing. Upon impact the ball rose beautifully into the air, reached its apex and then descended, landing ever so softly in the middle of the pond about half way to the green. Welcome back to the ranks of us mortal golfers John.
Ok, so to the play: Despite John Gustke's failure this week Roger Finnie and Terence Martin managed to show us how to get at least near to the flag taking this week's Nearest to the Pin prizes. Anirudh Katre and TK Lee did the same to take the Drive & Pitch honours - with Anirudh playing off the black tees! The Longest Drive prizes went to the straight hitters, Sami "yes we remember the last time" Kekonen and newcomer Andrea Saccarello from the Italian quarter!
Anirudh also had the flat stick working taking the Putting Champion Prize. This week's Booby prize went to Dennis Kuehne who had disappeared early so we decided to give the cricket bat to Asher Hewitt who had run away early last week....you can't escape Ash! Good to see Bastian Armbruster back to take the Most Exercise trophy - oh, but he disappeared early as well - don't worry, we'll catch up with you so you can add to your collection.
As mentioned, Anirudh decided to play off the black tees and still managed to take the Low Gross prize - impressive golf! With for players on 38 points, a count back was the order of the day with Jason Lee having to settle for the Runner Up slot so that Claudio Ghelli could take the Little Dog home as our Weekly Champion.
It took a bit of effort but we were able to coax a rare smile out of Claudio Ghelli for his photo with the Little Dog.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
So, with only one round remaining in the race for the Big Dog and Blue Jacket. John "I promise not to put one in the water again" Gustke managed sufficient improvements to overtake Chairman Mau to take the lead in the run up to the final. John sits 3 points ahead of 3rd place Alessandro and Sam Westen - and the Chairman is away next week!!! Should be an exciting finish - so come and join the fun!

Rules Information
During play under "Preferred Lies" are you able to adjust your ball once you place it? You've marked and moved your ball due to it interfering with another players ball. Following their shot there is now a big divot where your ball was. What do you do?
