Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!
A great turnout of 51 players for our 5th and penultimate round at the Garden Course. Another beautiful afternoon for golf saw everyone get off on time with a shot gun start on the front nine, meaning there were no more than 2 flights off each tee box.
Play was steady although a bit slow at times - just a gentle reminder to be aware of what's happening in front and behind you to keep the pace going smoothly! A couple of newcomers in Park Changsoo and Daria Drapkina and a welcome back to Albert Smith, Pekka Alamattila after some time away - good to see you all.
We also had to say "goodbye" to Giacomo Broli and Laurent Bessieres who are leaving these shores for pastures new - we wish you all the best and please keep in touch.
So to the play: Sam Westen and first-time prize winner Daniel Park took the Nearest to the Pin prizes. Sam Westen - again! - and Reysia Moore took the Longest Drive prizes whilst Rosie Tjaden and John Packer took the Drive & Pitch honours.
Eric Mary was this week's Putting Champion on a count back, but poor Siti Fatimah went home with both the Cricket Bat (I had a lot of pleasure presenting the wife of an Aussie with a cricket bat!) and the Most Exercise Trophy - no worries Siti - it's all good fun!
There was some very good scoring this week with TPS getting an Eagle 3 on Hole #1 and Sam Westen shooting a 1-under Par 70 off the stick to take the Lowest Gross prize. With 3 players ending up on 41 points, it took a count back to see who ended up on top resulting in Eric Mary as Runner Up and Rosie Tjaden taking her 3rd Little Dog in a row to remain the Weekly Champion. We think that's a D.O.G.S. record - 3 in a row - well done indeed!
A big congratulations to all of this week's winners.
Well, with only one more round to go before the Big Dog finds a new home, it's getting very tight at the top with only 1.7 separating Eric Mary, Rosie Tjaden and Sam Westen. Handicaps could play a big part in this as all three will have lower handicap indices next week - that's the trouble with shooting below your handicap! However, will we see someone from behind race to the top - it's happened before. Full standings can be seen on our Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app.
There's only one way to find out and that's to come and join the fun. So, grab a friend, or 2, and sign up for our penultimate round of this Eclectic and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners! Also note that signing up early helps a lot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.
And a reminder for all past Blue Jacket winners to bring their jackets for the usual photo parade.
