Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Beautiful weather greeted the 66 golfers who turned up for play and the course was in great condition again. A couple of new faces this week and some old ones we haven't seen for a while: so a big welcome to Anthony Quigley, Adzian Ayob and Amirul Nordin and welcome back to Dan Swinburne and Bram. Hope to see you all again very soon.
So, play got underway on time with the usual shotgun start and the great weather meant we all enjoyed the pleasant conditions - however!
We apologize for the slow play during our penultimate round. Despite our best efforts to ensure a smooth running game some things are out of our control. As a result of this last incident where one of our groups was able to affect the pace of play for the entire course we have been put on notice by Bogor Raya that slow play will not be tolerated. Slow groups that do not immediately improve their pace will be asked to leave the course. The D.O.G.S. committee agree with this and are fully in support. Going forward we will share our stance with all courses; we expect our members to play at a reasonable pace and if someone is not keeping up the marshals have our full support to do what they deem necessary to speed up play.
We all get engrossed in our group and many of us have side competitions going on whether 6 's, matchplay, Wolfman etc., which all adds to the fun of the day. However, this should never detract from the need to be vigilant on where you are relative to the group in front...where you should be no more than half a hole behind, ideally. If you are unsure of whether you are keeping pace or not, please feel free to utilize our slow play flow chart.
Enough said: on to the play: The ladies had a good showing this week in the skill prizes with Rey Moore, Shinta Sari and Sarah Brown taking the Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive prizes leaving Willie Noronha taking the other Longest Drive honour. The Drive & Pitch prizes went to Steve Sutton and Minn Tun. Richard Mau got back into the groove with the flat stick becoming this week's Putting Champion - again! Paul Eckhardt must have been missing his usual playing partner as he struggled but didn't go home empty handed taking the Cricket Bat and newcomer Anthony Quigley decided his first outing with us was going to be a long one winning the Most Exercise Trophy.
Anirudh is fast on the heels of Bobby Cangkrama to take the Lowest Gross prize this week off his scratch handicap. Now, it's not often we can talk about Paul Barnett from a truly positive standpoint, but he certainly had his game working this week winning the Runner Up slot. It's also been a while since Steve Sutton has been in the winner's circle but he was this week taking the Little Dog home and becoming this week's Champion.
Here's a couple of our lady D.O.G.S. showing their skills on the tee box.
Congratulations to Runner Up Paul who posted a great Stableford score. We don't know what Kevin said to him but apparently it shocked them both.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
Heading into our final week the Eclectic standings are tightening up. We have seen some leapfrogging and Bobby's early success has caused his handicap to drop and improvements are much more difficult to come by. His 3.7 point lead is down to 2.5 with the pack getting closer led by David and George. Bobby is also in the lead in the Lowest Gross competition with Axel close on his heels. However, Anirudh will get his 4th round next week and could easily snatch the prize. You can see the full Eclectic Leaderboard so far here.
The course restricts us to 64 players although we always ask for more. As has been the case each week spaces are filling up quickly. If you discover that registration is closed, reach out to either Rod or John so we can add you to the waiting list. We have had cancellations every week which have freed up spaces, so don't give up. Also, if for any reason you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as you can - we understand that circumstances can change as the week progresses.
If you have a group you would like to play with let Rod know your preferred playing partners and make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
