Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
A great turnout of some 53 players including our friends from Pocksia made the journey into the hills for our second round in this Eclectic Series. The weather forecast was suggesting we might get a shower or two later in the afternoon so it was good that we managed to start on time. However, some groups were caught out as the heavens did indeed open up resulting in them missing the last 2 or 3 holes. Remember, all completed holes still count in the eclectic scores, so all is not lost!
Pocksia welcomed us with their usual Bloody Mary's which they very kindly made open to all - they did go down extremely well with some players seen still have full glasses out on the course - well at least for the first hole anyway!
Some newcomers this week including Ryno Rudolph from MST Golf who very kindly donated some vouchers to add to some of the winner's spoils - thanks Ryno and we sincerely hope to see you again. Also we had Raj Chandak, Stephen Sparks and Wayne Allen - good to see you guys as well and please make it a regular outing.
As said, we did get off on time with the lead groups finishing in very good time. We are aware that there was some slow play again - really?! We will now begin putting the known slow guys at the back of the pack until they can demonstrate the ability to keep up the pace and show some consideration for others who are behind! We will also be notifying the marshals of potential slow groups so they are able to keep an eye out as well. Sorry to have to raise this again but it seems we do!!!
So, on to the play: Anirudh Katre was in strong form on the day trying desperately to hold on to his scratch handicap taking one of the Longest Drive, Drive & Pitch and Lowest Putts prizes - Roger clearly hit more greens this week! The other Longest Drive went to Steve Sutton and the other Drive & Pitch to Srinivas Murthy. The Nearest to the pin prizes went to Fernando and Holger.
Now, we haven't seen Velma for a while, so she decided to come back loud and clear winning both the Booby and Most Exercise prizes - you need to get out more and not just when hubby is away!
Mr MST Golf Ryno tried to win one of his own vouchers beating out Anirudh by one shot to take the Lowest Gross - quite some feat given the challenging nature of this course, and I believe it was his first time to play Gunung Geulis!
Even though Roger Finnie didn't take the Lowest Putts this week, he did manage to take the Runner Up slot leaving the path clear for Willie Noronha to take the Little Dog home becoming this week's Champion with a very modest 39 points!
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
So, with only 2 rounds complete it's still very early
days on the race for the Big Dog. Akhil Aggarwal retains his lead following last week's great round, but it did have the effect of dropping his handicap! Still a long way to go yet. You can see the full results here.
It rained and did it ever! the first rain affected round we've had for quite some time - and we hope it'll be quite some time before it happens again!
Now we must mention a very sad and unfortunate incident which occurred during play this week. Our very own Agnes Berkenhoff tripped over on the green and fell very awkwardly breaking her collar bone. As you can see from the X-Ray it doesn't look good and surgery will be required to fix. This means we're not going to see her for quite some time, but we all wish her a full and speedy recovery. Mind you, after her quick trip to the hospital she still managed to come back to the club to join in the after-golf activities.
So, next week we move the half-way stage in this series. We will start again at 11:28am off holes 1 and 10 but please get there in good time so you can check-in even though you may have to wait a little before you tee time - it really helps with the admin side of things - thanks. Please sign up early as usual and if you have a group you would like to play with let Rod know your preferred playing partners and make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
