D.O.G.S. Third Round at Gunung Geulis Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!
Round 3 of our Gunung Geulis Eclectic saw the D.O.G.S. heading to the tee boxes at the published start time on Sunday. Once underway, we had the rare luxury of nobody ahead of us holding up play, leaving everyone free to make their way around the course at their own pace. A pleasant change from some of the rounds we've experienced!
Unfortunately, we still had a few late arrivals. A reminder that we head to the tee boxes as soon as the course allows us, and that can sometimes be earlier than our published start time. Anyone arriving late will have to find their group out on the course.
Please allow plenty of time for Jakarta's unpredictable traffic and be ready to play at least 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time. If the course offers us an early start, we want to be ready to take advantage of it.
It was good to welcome back Victor Majo Bosch, visiting from Spain as a guest of Alberto Gonzalez. Victor last joined us at Imperial in 2024, so it was great to see him back amongst the D.O.G.S. He clearly hadn't forgotten how things work, either, managing to pick up a Nearest to the Pin prize during his return visit!
For the second week running, some of our competition flags were left out on the course.
If you're in the last group playing through a competition hole on your back nine, please collect the flag and bring it back to the clubhouse. The relevant holes are clearly marked on your personal D.O.G.S. scorecard.
The committee puts considerable time and effort into making sure everything runs smoothly each week, and these small contributions from members really do help. We don't ask for much, but we'd rather not have to organise a search party for missing flags every Sunday!

The novelty prizes provided a good spread of winners this week, with Paul Eckhardt claiming Nearest to the Pin on Garden 7 and our returning visitor Victor taking the honours on Clove 2. Not a bad way for Victor to mark his return to the D.O.G.S.!
The big hitters were Chris Anderson, winning Longest Drive on Garden 9, and Alberto on Clove 16. The Drive & Pitch prizes went to Sepand Zarrabi on Garden 4 and Jens Roestel on Clove 4.
Richard Mau certainly made his presence felt at prize giving. An impressive 26 putts earned him Putting Champion, while his round of 80 secured Lowest Gross. And he wasn't finished collecting prizes just yet!
At the other end of the scoring table, Shinta Sari collected the Booby Prize with 22 points, while Sari Smith certainly got her money's worth from the course, taking Most Exercise with 111 strokes.

We also caught up with a little unfinished business, presenting Eric Mary with his Round 1 Weekly Champion prize.
With the novelty prizes and special awards out of the way, it was time for the main honours.
Richard Mau collected yet another prize, this time as Runner-Up with 37 Stableford points. Three awards in one afternoon! Richard certainly did well.
But the final honours belonged to a man who has already had quite a week.
Fresh from getting married last weekend, Kevin Dobson clearly wasn't ready for the celebrations to end. A superb 38 Stableford points earned him this week's Weekly Champion title and the coveted Little Dog!
A wedding one weekend and the Little Dog the next. That's a pretty impressive fortnight, Kevin! Congratulations!
Three rounds down and three to go, and the Eclectic leaderboard is beginning to take shape.
Chris Anderson leads the way on 66.00, with this week's multiple prize winner Richard Mau sitting second on 68.00. Agnes holds third place on 71.10.
But with another three rounds to play, there's still plenty of opportunity to improve those hole-by-hole scores. That's the beauty of the Eclectic: one good hole can make all the difference, and a disastrous hole this week can be forgotten with a better effort next time.
Full results and standings are available on the leaderboard.
We're back at Gunung Geulis on Saturday, 17 October, for Round 4. Please note that this week's round is on Saturday, not Sunday.
Rounds 5 and 6 return to Sundays, with our final round on 1 November doubling as our Day of the Dead celebration. It promises to be a colourful finish to the tournament, so start thinking about your outfits!
Please check the schedule carefully, register for the correct day, and remember to arrive early.

Day of the Dead Round
Our final round at Gunung Geulis has moved to Sunday, November 1, so Halloween is out and Day of the Dead is in!

Día de los Muertos is not a sombre occasion, but a colourful and joyful celebration of remembrance—honouring family and friends who are no longer with us. That sounds like a theme the D.O.G.S. can get behind.
There will be a prize for the best Day of the Dead-inspired outfit, so think colourful rather than simply scary: decorated skulls, skeletons, flowers, sombreros, bright shirts, face paint—or whatever creative interpretation you can manage while still swinging a golf club.
We’re looking forward to seeing what the D.O.G.S. come up with — the more colourful and creative, the better!
