Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
As we were playing on Sunday, due to a tournament on Saturday, TeeSet came out to join us. 55 players went off the back nine with a shotgun start and pace was methodical as players snaked around the course chasing improvements. Most of the day we had cooler weather and a bit of wind to keep things interesting. A late afternoon storm threatened to shorten our game but the dark skies and distant thunder only resulted in a light rain that didn't last long and did not delay us. All players finished their rounds before darkness fell over the course.
The large turnout brought some players we haven't seen in awhile; welcome back to Geoff Thwaites, George Baptiste and Rosita.
With the course a bit soft due to rain Saturday night Preferred Lies was in play and players scored well. Dean Merrilees and Jason Lee were accurate with their tee shots winning the Nearest to Pin prizes. Nicolas Verdanal and John Gustke brought out the lumber to take the Longest Drives. Minn Tunn and Hitoshi Maruyama showed their skill with approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch awards. Vijay Sarashetti was able to figure out the, at times inconsistent, greens and win Putting Champion. John Gustke shot a nice 80 winning Lowest Gross but had to settle for Runner Up to Weekly Champion Minn Tun.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
We also took care of some unfinished business by awarding Nicolas Verdenal his trophy for Lowest Gross Champion from Riverside.
There was lots of movement on the leaderboard this week with many players making significant improvements; at the half way point of our tournament John Gustke is sitting at the top of the standings. As John is off to the US for 2 months on Friday he will be crossing his fingers that his lead is big enough to hold everyone off for the next 3 rounds. Full results after the third round can be seen on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.
The German Open Cup, in support of the ISCO Foundation, was played on February 23rd with many D.O.G.S. in attendance. During the prize award ceremony Aknes Berkenhoff and Dewi Wardoyo presented a check from the D.O.G.S. for the donations collected during our tournament at Riverside to fellow Dog and tournament organizer Jens Roestel. Well done D.O.G.S.!!!

Rules Information
It happens; you are teed up and about to hit but accidentally knock your ball off the tee. You can freely ignore that one person who can't help but shout "one", tee it up and swing away without penalty.
However if you take a swing and miss, that is a different scenario and will cost you a stroke.
Both are explained here.
