Final Round and End of Year Party at Pondok Cabe Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

Players began arriving early for the final round of the 2025 D.O.G.S. season, enjoying a generous buffet breakfast in the clubhouse ballroom, perfectly complemented by Bloody Marys prepared by Bull & Vine. As the room filled, conversations quickly turned to strategy—who might leapfrog the leaderboard and claim the coveted Big Dog.

Thanks to a well-organised starter, play got underway smoothly from tee boxes 10 through 15, right on schedule.

The D.O.G.S. were blessed with excellent weather throughout the day, making for ideal playing conditions. On course, Apple Brown, Cherry Djohan, Ana Dobson, and Siti Merrilees ensured no one went thirsty, delivering chilled beverages generously provided by San Miguel.

Despite the lead group catching up with the earlier non-D.O.G.S. groups, the field navigated the course efficiently, completing the round in approximately four and a half hours—an excellent outcome and a great day of golf all round.

Upon returning to the clubhouse, players were welcomed by the Bull & Vine team—Royan, Amel, and Febbie—with a well-stocked bar and an outstanding dinner. Perfectly cooked picañha with a variety of sides was served, alongside Tanah Rasa's famous clay pot curries, making for a memorable post-round feast.

Before the trophies were presented, Captain Dougy hosted a fun and engaging D.O.G.S. quiz, getting everyone warmed up for the evening ahead. Throughout the night, raffle prizes were drawn, keeping the atmosphere lively and the crowd entertained.

A special thank you to Hazel Brown, who ran the presentation and kept everything on track by sorting out the inevitable IT challenges throughout the evening.

During the presentation, Captain Dougy announced the Jakarta Inter-League Team’s MVP as Tim Knight. Unfortunately, Tim was unable to attend, and Toshi kindly accepted the award on his behalf.

The D.O.G.S. can be immensely proud of their continued commitment to charitable giving. In 2025 over IDR 71,000,000 was raised, bringing total charitable contributions since 2014 to more than IDR 430,000,000.

In recognition of these efforts, Bill Lloyd, owner of Asian Tigers, graciously presented the D.O.G.S. with a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging our long-standing support of their work in the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of Sumatran tigers.

Prize winners for the day included Andrea Saccarello with Nearest to the Pin, Axel Hertzke and Steve Sutton sharing the Longest Drives, and Richard Mau, who collected Drive & Pitch and Putting Champion awards—on top of multiple raffle prizes. Michael Benner took home the Booby Prize, while Viora earned Most Exercise.

Carter Cross produced an excellent round of 74 to claim Lowest Gross for the day. Harry Kwak finished Runner-Up, just one point behind our Week 6 Champion Marc Desilets.

After six weeks of golf the improvements can be tough to get but Steve Sutton managed to close out a crucial par, securing third place overall. Carter Cross made up some ground jumping from fifth to second place. His efforts also made him our Lowest Gross Champion.

In a rare turn of events; not only was this player unable to make any improvements, he saw his Eclectic score rise on the final day. This due to his play over the course of the tournament causing his handicap to drop. No problem, a substantial lead going into the round allowed Andrew Goode to collect his second Big Dog as our 2025 Pondok Cabe Eclectic Champion!

Congratulations to all the winners.

Full results are available on the leaderboard.

With the weekly and Eclectic prizes awarded and our 2025 Champions receiving their Blue Jackets, there was one final honour to be presented: the Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy, awarded to the D.O.G.S. Top Dog of the Year.

Points are accumulated throughout the season based on rounds played and final tournament placings. After 48 rounds of golf, it was clear, there could be only one Top Dog for 2025—Rod Williams.

In recognition of Rod’s achievement, and in lieu of presenting the trophy itself, the Society will donate an amount equivalent to the cost of the cup to Yayasan YPAI – Indriya, in Rod’s name.
