Penultimate Round at Pondok Cabe Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

A fantastic turnout marked the penultimate round of this tournament and the year. Pondok Cabe once again provided exceptional VIP treatment, granting us access to the function room both before and after golf. Players were enthusiastic and focused, discussing strategies to achieve those crucial improvements. As always, the course was impeccably organized, allowing us to head to the tee boxes 20 minutes early—underscoring why we emphasize early arrival before the scheduled tee time. The start was seamless, and the pace of play remained steady, with everyone finishing around the 4 hours and 30 minutes mark. True to 2025's form, a brief afternoon shower made its appearance but thankfully did not impede play.

Welcome to the strong Thai contingent who joined us; Isara Pootrakul, Jimmy Pirom, Pakpoom Luedee, Peraphon Pra, Phonprakhal Kerdnual, Sittirat Pusongchai, and Tanachart Suriyawong. A special thanks to Ian Lee for also coming out. It was great to see our friends from San Miguel, Brian Hernandez and Joemar Climaco, who made time to be with us before their holiday departure. Thank you all for coming!

Following the round with all the players relaxing in the clubhouse, enjoying dinner and cool beverages, it was time to announce the prizes. New guys Jimmy Pirom and Ian Lee were first up to claim their Nearest to Pin awards. Big hitters Andrew Goode and Dean Merrilees took the Longest Drive honours, while Hitoshi Maruyama and Carter Cross proudly shared the Drive & Pitch prizes.

Richard Mau took home Putting Champion, Lowest Gross and Runner Up accolades. Aknes got to chase Kevin around with her Booby Prize paddle and Viora won Most Exercise.

Roger Finnie was the last one on the stage to bask in the glory of being Weekly Champion.

Andrew Goode remains atop the leaderboard hoping to recreate the magic of 2023, after making some improvements in round 5. There was no change to the names in the top 4 places but the top 10 has tightened up. Will someone be able to make a run and topple Andrew? Come out to join the action and find out.

Our final round is next week, along with our End of Year Party. We are thrilled to announce that Bull & Vine will be providing dinner, and Tanah Rasa will elevate the meal with their clay pot creations. San Miguel will also supply refreshing beverages to keep everyone hydrated throughout the day. We kindly request your early sign-up to efficiently arrange catering; non-golfing friends and family are strongly encouraged to join us for this exciting day. As always, we have fantastic prizes available for our raffle, so bring your luck and get ready to purchase some tickets.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity and created a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society or D.O.G.S.

On Sunday, March 14, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Sarah are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
