Fourth Round at Pondok Cabe Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

The stakes were high for the players who showed up for a rare Sunday round. Bloody Marys (thank you David & Rey Moore) were flowing, and the excitement was undeniable. Why? It was the day of the annual POCKSIA vs D.O.G.S. match. The opposition was confident, but the D.O.G.S. were determined to exact revenge for last year.

Impressively 30 of the players who came out had played in the TeeSet Annual Championship and enjoyed the after party the day before. Hats off to these dedicated golfers.

Once again we were treated to a shotgun start and play moved steadily around the course with the banter between competitors remaining lively.

As has been the case throughout 2025, late afternoon showers ensured no one reached the clubhouse dry. Most players completed their rounds, with only a few unable to finish.

The rainfall swept away three of our flags, resulting in only three skill prizes being awarded. Carter Cross claimed two prizes: a Longest Drive and a Drive & Pitch. Dean Merrilees secured the other Longest Drive.

Richard Mau emerged as this week's Putting Champion. Patrick Chaundy and Hitoshi Maruyama shared the Booby Prize, while John Stevens claimed the Most Exercise award. Carter secured another prize with the Lowest Gross. Nanin Provance delivered an impressive performance, finishing as Runner Up, narrowly losing on count-back to the back-to-back Weekly Champion, Simon Laneri. Congratulations, Simon!

The D.O.G.S. have restored order in the Jakarta golfing world by defeating a formidable POCKSIA team 5-1/2 to 3-1/2, reclaiming the trophy with authority. Congratulations to Captain Dougy and the team. This victory advances the D.O.G.S. record to 5 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws against POCKSIA.

In 2023, the D.O.G.S. kicked off their first tournament of the year at Pondok Cabe, where Andrew Goode claimed his first Big Dog. This week, Andrew is at the top of the leaderboard, looking to secure his second win. Steve Sutton is determined to prevent that as he is tied and eager to claim his very first Big Dog. Tim Knight and Simon Laneri are close behind, each aiming for victory. With only 4 points separating 1st and 10th place, there's ample opportunity for someone to break away and seize the win.

With next week being our penultimate round that means we are only two weeks away from our End of Year Party. As with previous years non-golfing friends and family are encouraged to join us for this fun day. If you haven't signed up please do so soon so we can get the numbers right for catering. Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity and created a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society or D.O.G.S.

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Sarah are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
