Final Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya

ree

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Well, here we are - 20 years of the D.O.G.S. - and what a great place to have our celebration. Of course, events like this don't happen without a tremendous amount of support from our sponsors which can be seen on the special stage backdrop.

We also had other individual sponsors who have asked to remain anonymous, some of whom donated in memory of the late Gary Milburn, but whose collective contribution allowed us to put on the party all within the cost of the usual game fee. Thank you to all our sponsors not just for this week but for your support over the past 20 years.

A great turnout of 78 players for what was hopefully going to be a great day, and we were again blessed with good weather despite a light shower very early in the round. Many players wore the special 20th Anniversary shirt for the occasion as can be seen in the group photo taken before we headed out onto the course. The starters got us off on time and with so many groups, play was steady but not the fastest meaning a few missed the last hole or two due to darkness descending. There's not so much we can do about that given such a large group. Our friends from San Miguel kept us suitably refreshed on the course as well as during the after-party - so all good!

There was a lot to play for with the Blue Jacket up for grabs so there was much focus on the day's play:

So, first to the day's play: No surprises on who took the Longest Drives this week - Anirudh - Carter seems to have missed out this time! Steve Lowry and Claudio showed the accuracy of their tee shots on the not so easy par 3's to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes and Jason Gamble and Chris Barnett managed to get closer than the rest of the field winning the Drive & Pitch prizes. Roger managed to really excel in missing the greens this week taking the Putting Champion prize whilst Joe Perucho seemed to enjoy the afternoon more than most taking both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies home - must be something to do with the San Miguel!

No surprises again for the Low Gross winner this week although it was on a count back with Carter but Anirudh prevailed. Jason Gamble had a good day ending up as Runner Up leaving Paul Barnett to celebrate his great day by taking the Little Dog home and being this special week's Champion.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

So, now to the Blue Jacket: Well, it has to be said Paul Eckhardt has kept his cool and made significant improvements in many of his rounds. The Penultimate round where he had the best round of his life was the game changer in that it put him in the top slot but he still managed to make improvements this week to stay on top - even though his handicap dropped. So Paul wins his first Blue Jacket with the lowest recorded Eclectic Score in the 20 years of the D.O.G.S. - Wow!!

Anirudh - who was Runner up in the Eclectic took the Low Gross Average Trophy and Ash - many times the bridesmaid, never the bride - came in third in the Eclectic, both taking a Mini Dog home. Full results can be found on the leaderboard.

Of course, there were all the previous Blue Jacket winner to help Paul celebrate well into the evening.

Following the prize giving we had a few Lucky Draw prizes to give away courtesy of Asian Tigers, Tanah Rasa and Top Golf - well done to the lucky winners. The evening carried on until around 10pm with the band playing some great music - although the Pinoy's can never be held back when there's an opportunity to sing-along.

And just to record the Birthday Roger Finnie proposed the Toast to the D.O.G.S.

A Great day and a big thank you to everyone for making it so memorable...here's to the next 20 years!!!!

Next week, we'll transition to a course that meanders through rolling hills, featuring dramatic elevation shifts and expansive mountain vistas. The front nine challenges accuracy with its narrower fairways, while the back nine is slightly more open but still requires strategic course management. This blend of challenging holes and breathtaking scenery makes it an excellent location for our upcoming tournament. Sign up now and, as always, inform Rod of your preferred playing partners as soon as possible - thanks.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity to create a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society (D.O.G.S.)

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Rod are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
