Final Round at Permata Sentul Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

ree

So we came to the final round in this Eclectic series at Permata Sentul with 41 players making the journey down the toll. Who was going home with the Blue Jacket this time. Permata Sentul has a bit of reputation of a surprise up its sleeve, would it show itself this time.

A few old faces and newcomers to welcome this week with Roberto Daniele, his daughter, Marina and their friends Oswaldo and Sandy, who have now moved to Jakarta so we should see a lot more of them. Also George Baptiste's son Ryan, and Holger and Ian Pemberton, whom we haven't seen for a while and our newcomer Sai Ganesh, who just happened to see us all last week and asked if he could join us this week.

Well, we got off on time with a semi-shot gun off the front nine and pace of play was good with an almost empty course it seemed. Everything was going well but there were rumblings in the background as we progressed. Well the rumblings got louder, and the skies got darker and darker - and then, the mother of all rain attacked us with most people finishing at least 16 holes play was abandoned as the lightning got very close to the club house and the sirens went off. So we all dried off with a good real shower to enjoy our refreshments kindly supplied by San Miguel as usual. Thank you San Miguel for the refreshing beverages.

Unfortunately, the marshals were too afraid to go out and rescue the flags so we couldn't award any skills prizes, but we did manage to work out a Little Dog winner and runner up based on 16 holes with Rod taking the Runner Up slot with 35 points off 16 holes but Andrew Humphreys having the round of his life taking the Little Dog home - his first - with an impressive 39 points off 16 holes.

Why?

So, coming to the important part of the day and remembering all holes completed count towards the Eclectic. Could Hitoshi finally become the groom rather than always the Best Man - no!! Jacob Smith managed to hold on to his lead despite not making any further improvements. Richard Mau, who was off celebrating his birthday, took the Lowest Gross Champion trophy - we'll catchup with you next week Richard.

You can check out the full results on the leaderboard.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

Next week we move to a course known for its lush beauty and classic layout; this well-manicured course winds through tropical gardens and rolling terrain, offering a blend of wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and fast greens. As we tee off our next Eclectic Tournament the course provides the perfect setting for a competitive yet enjoyable run with the D.O.G.S. This Eclectic Series will culminate with our 20 years anniversary party on the final week - but more on that later. We expect a big turnout so sign up now and, as usual, let Rod know your preferred playing partners as early as possible - thanks.

Rules Information

You’re facing a short putt, but your ball is dirty and needs a quick clean. Fastest way is to use your putter to mark the spot; is this allowed under the Rules of Golf? Answer is here.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity to create a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society (D.O.G.S.)

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Rod are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
