First Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya

ree

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Well, here we are, at one of the best courses in the Jakarta region, Klub Golf Bogor Raya - a course where we broke the D.O.G.S. record for attendance last year - can we do the same this year. This Eclectic Series will culminate with a special party on the final week, the 20th September, to celebrate our 20th year.

So, this week we had a great turnout of 42 players to enjoy perfect weather conditions and a course to match. Some new faces and some we haven't seen for a while so, a big welcome to Andrew Buckley, visiting from Australia, Remon's guys, Fitra Akmal, Mohammad Zacky, Norman Defryzal and those we haven't seen for a while, Anirudh, David Baglivo, Ezra, Graeme & Susanty Bruce and Tim Knight. Great to see you all again and we hope to see much more of you please!.

So, despite a busy course, the starters, as usual, got everyone off reasonably on time with a semi shotgun off the front nine - we'll mix it up a bit as we move further into the series so some weeks we may go off the back nine first.

Play was steady although the non-Dogs groups in front were sometimes a bit slow but the marshals seemed to take care of this. Hey, with such good weather, it didn't really matter too much if the round took just over 4 1/2 hours - not bad!

So, to the play: We were all wondering whether it would be Anirudh or Carter, our 2 really long hitters, who would take the longest Drive prizes - would they share the honours - no, Carter showed youth wins taking both prizes - we've got to put those 2 guys together soon!. However Anirudh did take one of the Nearest to the Pin prizes with Kevin taking the other. The Drive & Pitch prizes went to David Moore and David (Bags) Baglivo. Roger the Dodger Finnie missed even more greens this week taking the Putting Champion prize with a number that will be hard to beat!.

Viora did improve on last week's scores but still took both the Booby prize and Most Exercise Trophy - there will come a day if you keep improving when you'll go home empty handed!

Anirudh may not have hit the longest drives but he did shoot a 1 over par 72 gross to take the Low Gross prize - wow!

Rey Moore continues her rise to stardom with her game but she had to settle for the Runner Up prize as Richard Mau took the Little Dog home - no mean feat with a low handicap!

We also had a little bit of unfinished business from last week where we did manage to recover the flags. Rey Moore again featured winning a Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin prizes with Rod winning the other Nearest to the Pin. Chris Anderson took the other Longest Drive and Ian Pemberton the only Drive & Pitch prize - however they were both OB this week! Axel picked up his balls for his Top 10 finish and Richard collected his Lowest Gross trophy.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

With the awards handed out we had one last bit of business and that was wishing Aknes a very Happy Birthday! May you have many more!

Nothing much to say on the Eclectic as it's only the first week but you can check out the full results on the leaderboard.
