Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So, to the fourth round of this ever popular Eclectic Series with another great turnout of 63 players this week.
With the course continuing to present itself in great condition it really is one of the great delights of living in this part of the world!
Some new faces this week including a strong contingent from the Notorious Golf Group headed by their Chairman Joesph Prayogo and our very own Remon Moerman. Newcomers also included Arthur Kissin, Ivan Crabb, Jeremy Davis, Pete Smith, Richard Gowland and Shaun Dickson. Good also to see Willie and Meher Noronha back after a while and Kitty Siriwat.
So, even with the course being busy in the morning the starter got us off on time from the front nine with our usual semi shotgun. Pace of play was steady - maybe a bit slow due to some non-D.O.G.S. groups in front of us - but not too bad. Conditions were hot and humid which is always a bad sign and, sure enough, a heavy shower descended upon us about 2/3 of the way around. Fortunately this only stopped play for about 40 minutes and we continued. Unfortunately quite a few didn't manage to finish their rounds being only a couple of holes or so short but more than half did finish. Remember all holes completed count towards the eclectic. We must also always say thank you to San Miguel for the pre-round refreshments
So, to the play: First the skills prizes - Willie and Jaakko hit the best tee shots on the designated Par 3's to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes and newcomer Joseph Prayogo and Andy Cross hit accurate approach shots to take the Drive & Pitch prizes. Rey Moore was back in the winning circle taking one of the longest Drive prizes with young Carter taking the other.
The Putting champion had to be decided on a count back with Roger missing out this time in favour of Joseph Prayogo. The day's Booby Prize went to Stan Provance, although I'm not sure if he knows what a cricket bat is for, with a very respectful 24 points and similarly newcomer Jeremy Davis took the Most Exercise Trophy with a fairly reasonable 114 off the stick.
Our very own Kevin Dobson continues to pull his handicap down in the right direction taking this week's Runner Up slot. This left Joseph Prayogo to shine with his very low handicap to shoot a 2 under par 69 gross to take the Low Gross and with 42 point the Little Dog home as well.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
So, with 4 rounds now complete it is very tight at the top of the Eclectic Leaderboard with only 3 points separating the top 10 and the top 3 of Ani, Ash and Jaakko. All holding their positions on the same scores - but all have room for improvements. It could be that any changes to handicap index could make the difference here. We haven't had a race for the Blue Jacket quite this tight for a while!!
You can check out the full results on the leaderboard.
So, with only 2 weeks left at Bogor Raya and our 20th Anniversary Party following the final round, it's even more important to get signed up as soon as possible. The celebrations on the 20th September following our final round will not only include the awarding of the Eclectic winners but there will be a buffet dinner, live band and some very special door prizes. Thanks to all who have contributed sponsorship for this event which means there will be no extra charge for the evening - even corkage has been settled!!!
We expect a big turnout so sign up now and, as usual, let Rod know your preferred playing partners as early as possible - thanks.
