Updated: Nov 10

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

ree

The skies were clear, offering fantastic views around the course. The starters were fully prepared and got the group off the first tee right on schedule. A light breeze kept the players cool, allowing them to enjoy a great day. Play on the front 9 moved briskly, though a bit of a jam awaited us at the turn. After a lengthy delay, play resumed; while the pace wasn't as quick as the front, it remained reasonable. Everyone returned to the clubhouse to enjoy the cool air and have the prizes awarded before darkness fell.

Welcome to Dale Chappel, a mate of Ash Hewitt, who joined us from Bangkok. We eagerly anticipate your next visit, Dale.

Dale relished his first round so much that he didn't want it to end, taking in the views from every angle on the course to win Most Exercise and the Booby Prize. Ash also left with a prize, claiming a Longest Drive. Dave Zeiters won one of the Nearest to Pin prizes, Paul Eckhardt emerged as our Putting Champion, while Sepand Zarrabi delivered another impressive round off the blue tees to secure the Runner Up position.

President John Brown while handling the MC duties got to award himself two prizes: a Drive & Pitch and Longest Drive. Jaakko Valli dominated with a haul of three prizes; Nearest to Pin, Lowest Gross, and most importantly, Weekly Champion!

Congratulations to all the day's winners.

As we approach our final round, Sepand leads both the Lowest Gross and Eclectic Leaderboards. The competition has a lot of improvements available, but the course is not giving them up easily, and Sepand's 2.5-shot lead could be challenging to surpass. We'll find out next week.

The full results are available on the leaderboard.

Next week is our final round of this tournament, get your groups together and sign up now. Please do inform John of your preferred playing partners.

Rules Information

You find your ball embedded in the face of a bunker and you know you are due relief but where?

Here are your options:

ree

Free drop for an embedded ball

  • A ball embedded in the grass or soil face of a bunker is considered to be in the general area, so you can take a free drop.

  • Find the nearest spot in the general area that is not closer to the hole than your ball.

  • Measure one club-length from that spot in all directions to create your relief area.

  • Drop the ball from knee height within this relief area.

Important details

  • If the ball would roll back into the bunker upon dropping, you must select a new reference point that is not closer to the hole to ensure the drop is successful.

  • If the ball still rolls onto the putting green after the first drop, you must drop it again.

  • If the ball does not stop at rest after two drops, you must place it at the spot where it was first dropped and let it come to rest there, not closer to the hole.

  • To be certain you are eligible for this rule, you can lift the ball to confirm it is embedded in its own pitch-mark. If it's not, replace it accurately.
