Penultimate Round at Imperial Klub Golf

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

Things took a promising turn as the D.O.G.S. began arriving. Despite heavy overnight rains that drenched the course and a foreboding dark sky, we remained optimistic. The rains resumed about a half-hour before our scheduled tee-off, causing some uncertainty about starting on time. However, just five minutes before tee-off, the rain subsided, and the starter confidently gave us the go-ahead. As play commenced, it was clear that the decision for lift, clean, and place was spot on. Although a group of queue jumpers initially slowed the pace on the front nine, it picked up significantly on the back nine. With the sun shining down on us, all groups completed their rounds and gathered in the clubhouse, enjoying beverages provided by our sponsor San Miguel in time to witness the sunset.

We have seen a lot of things over the 20 years of D.O.G.S. play but this was the first time we have seen a scorecard submitted that had white-out on it! Talk about being prepared.

Some interesting prize winners today with Thomas Glaser having a breakout round and winning Longest Drive and Nearest to Pin awards, Hitoshi took the other Nearest to Pin and Chris Barnett the 2nd Longest Drive. Roger Finnie and Don Duttlinger split the Drive & Pitch prizes. Jude Alexander excelled on the greens, earning the title of Putting Champion. We've all experienced the highs and lows of golf, and it's a quick lesson in humility when you think you've mastered the game. Fresh off his victory as Weekly Champion last Saturday, Ezra Alexander found himself holding the cricket bat Booby Prize this week; a testament to how fortunes can change. Ash Hewitt and Paul Barnett were nervously hoping the other would win Most Exercise, but they needn't have worried. Paul Carrasco, a newcomer to the course, took his time exploring and claimed the prize. Perhaps a little more white-out on the scorecard would have helped, Paul.

On a lighter note, while we're having fun with Paul, he's facing some language challenges. He ordered "three more beers" and was quite taken aback when the server arrived with three plates of spaghetti!

In spite of the soggy conditions, we had an impressive performance with 3 players scoring under 80 for the day. Carter Cross led the pack with a remarkable 77, securing the Lowest Gross title ahead of Richard Mau (79) and Axel Hertzke (78). Axel, however, triumphed as the Weekly Champion, proudly taking home his Little Dog trophy!

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

We are set for an exhilarating conclusion next week with Axel at the top of the leaderboard. Improving his position will be challenging as he has no bogeys on the scorecard. Richard holds 2nd place with just one bogey remaining. Don and Ezra are tied for 3rd, each with several bogeys, giving them a strong chance to leapfrog into the lead.

Don maintains his consistent scoring and appears to have an unassailable lead in the "The Imperial Klub Golf – Rod Williams Memorial Challenge". However, as Ezra demonstrated this week, fortunes can shift rapidly, so we're eager to see how it all unfolds.

Check out the full results for the Challenge and Eclectic on the leaderboard.

Due to the underwhelming response to our Tee Box survey, we will keep it open for one more week.

The purpose of the survey is simply to gather member feedback on whether we should remain with the current tee setup or consider a small adjustment. No changes will be made without sufficient member input.

If you have a view, please take a moment to complete the survey by following this link.

As a predominantly expatriate society, we often bid farewell to members. This week, we extend our best wishes to Andrew and Carter Cross on their new journey. We eagerly anticipate following Carter's promising career on the pro tour in the future.

Just one round remains to secure the improvements needed to earn the Blue Jacket; sign up now to join us next week. Please inform JB if you have a grouping preference.
