D.O.G.S. First Round at Permata Sentul Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!


A new tournament brings hope for players to take home the Big Dog at the end of 6 weeks and players came out for round 1 looking to get off to a good start. The course was excited to have us back and their preparation showed it. We were able to head off ahead of schedule with only a slight hiccup; the starters didn't mention that they changed the holes for our shotgun start until we were heading in the wrong direction! A few minutes of confusion ensued but in the end we all got to the correct holes and teed off ahead of schedule.


We extend a warm welcome to Tim Fehling and Sumner Moore, who played their inaugural D.O.G.S. rounds. We look forward to seeing you both again soon.


The course had made sure everyone was cleared out from in front of us and the lead groups were able to move along steadily without waiting. At the turn a non-D.O.G.S. group was on the tee which caused a brief delay. However, once play was back underway the quick pace continued. We were also blessed with a bit of cloud cover which kept the heat at bay and, more importantly, never developed into rain. Thus the group was able to finish in good time and dry.



Shinta Sari had a great day showing off her accuracy and power winning a Nearest to Pin and Longest Drive. Sepand Zarrabi (who successfully clarified to Kevin the distinction between Persians and Arabs) claimed the other Nearest to Pin while Axel Hertzke secured the second Longest Drive. Extra points to Sepand for getting inside Axel's mark for Nearest to Pin snatching the prize away from Axel. Chris Anderson and James Taylor excelled, sharing the Drive & Pitch prizes.


Putting on this course was much different than Riverside but Capt. Dougy McQuater made a smooth transition to win Putting Champion. New guy Sumner impressively captured two prizes; Most Exercise and Booby Prize. Our other first-timer Tim may not have won any skill prizes but he achieved his first ever birdie! Congratulations Tim!



Richard Mau showed us all how to get around the course taking Lowest Gross and Capt. Dougy was back up to collect another prize as Runner Up. You may recall that Marc Desilets earned the Most Exercise winner in the final round at Riverside. This week he came in with something to prove and walked away as our Weekly Champion. Impressive turnaround Marc!

Rules Information


Your ball hits another ball on the green; what is the ruling? This depends on where you struck your ball from. If from off the green there is no issue. The ball (A) that struck the other ball (B) is then played from where it comes to rest. Ball B is placed as near where it originally lied as can be determined and play continues.


However, if ball A was on the putting green the player of ball A is assessed a 2 stroke penalty and plays ball from original position. Ball B is placed back as near as can be determined to it's original position, with no penalty, and played from there.
