Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

A beautiful sunny day greeted the D.O.G.S. as they arrived at the course on Saturday morning, a fitting way to bid farewell to our dear friend and "Heart of the D.O.G.S." Rod Williams. Both in spirit and presence, Rod was larger than life. His infectious smile and laughter always enhanced our days on the course. Rod loved the D.O.G.S. but it certainly wasn't what defined him; he was first and foremost a family man who loved talking about his daughters and his soulmate, Dewi. Our condolences go out to his family.

Welcome back to Ezra North and Simon Oxley who haven't played with us in many years. Welcome to David Zeiters, from the Manila Dogs, Oswaldo Chacon and Ryan Rwanda; who played their first D.O.G.S. round.

The 2025 golfing season wouldn’t have been complete without the great weather breaking late in the round, bringing a bit of rain. Perhaps it was a fitting attempt to wash away the sadness that surrounded us all. Due to the rain, about half the players didn’t finish. It was decided that no skill awards would be given; instead, winners were determined by a lucky draw.

There's not much else to report about the day, as golf was secondary to the 29 players who spent the day together, sharing stories about a man who profoundly impacted everyone he met.

RIP Rod

I still recall that day vividly at Bogor Raya Round 3 in 2024; everyone was asking if they had seen Rod's cart. When I passed by and saw him in it, it was clear that Rod was driving the ideal cart. His wide smile revealed how much he was enjoying the ride and the notoriety. I'll leave this picture here as a suitable memory of him.

There were some improvements made on Saturday and you can check the standings on the leaderboard.

Come out to the course and work on those improvements to get you in the drivers seat for the final round. Sign up now and promptly inform John of your preferred playing partners.

Rules Information

Repairing damage around the cup may be done but only under very specific circumstances. Read more about it here and as an added bonus some information on whether or not you can clean a ball that was covered in mud from going through GUR. If you're short of time, the answer is no.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity to create a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society (D.O.G.S.)

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Rod are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
