Second Round at Pondok Cabe Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

Ready to have a go at the course in dry conditions the D.O.G.S. arrived early and were ready and waiting when the starter informed it was time to go. Play got underway smoothly and we were blessed with cool conditions to enjoy the day on the links. The course was clear in front of the group which allowed for a quick pace of play that saw groups finishing at the 4 hour mark.

Welcome back to Adrian Scholten, who was in town visiting and Robbie Nohreiter. We were sorry to find out that this would be Robbie's farewell game with us as he is leaving. We also said farewell to Richard Mau's buddy Tim Colceri who's trip to Jakarta is concluding. Thanks for joining us and you're always welcome to return whenever you can.

Tim Knight and Doug McQuater split the Nearest to Pin awards and John Brown was able to get a Longest Drive with Carter Cross taking the other. Carter had a big day also winning both the Drive & Pitch prizes and Lowest Gross! Steve Sutton dominated the greens, earning the Putting Champion title. Tim Colceri didn't go back to the US empty handed, proudly taking home the Booby Prize. Viora took the long way around the course to win Most Exercise.

We had 2 players both achieve 40 Stableford points. David Zeiters ended up as Runner Up after a count-back. That left Robbie Nohreiter with a packing problem; as Weekly Champion he now gets to carry a Little Dog with him on his flight home.

Congratulations to all the day's winners.

Players took full advantage of the conditions to rack up some big improvements over week 1. Tim Knight is currently sitting at the top of dog pile but can he hang on?

Pocksia will be joining us for our 4th round on Sunday, November 30th for our annual match. Captain Dougy is looking for players; please let Doug or John know if you would like to represent the D.O.G.S.

The Rules of Golf encourages “ready golf” (Rule 5.6). The D.O.G.S. also encourage this. However when you are engaged in Match Play, order of play becomes very important and playing out of turn can lead to your opponent canceling your shot. Learn more here.

Here is another interesting order of play scenario which could easily come up during your next Match Play game.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity and created a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society or D.O.G.S.

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Sarah are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.
