Fourth Round at Gunung Geulis Country Club

ree

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

A quick last-minute decision by the starter directed the D.O.G.S. to begin at holes 1, 2, and 3 for a perfectly timed semi-shotgun start. With no one ahead, the group efficiently made their way around the course. A brief shower didn't slow us down, as play continued seamlessly, allowing everyone to be on the deck enjoying drinks in the daylight.

Welcome to Nick Marshall and Adam Ross, who made their debuts with us, and a warm welcome back to David Huang, Suradet Phoounna, and Songpol Sak. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Prior to handing out the days prizes we took care of some old business providing Ash Hewitt his Mini Dog for finishing 2nd Runner Up at Bogor Raya.

Well done Ash!

James Taylor and Kevin Dobson expertly demonstrated their skills on par 3's, securing the Nearest to Pin awards. Paul Eckhardt dominated with his powerful drive on 8, claiming the Longest Drive, while the fairway on 10 remained untouched, leaving the flag blank. Adam Ross and David Huang excelled in the Drive & Pitch category. The greens posed a significant challenge, with Pat Chaundy emerging as the Putting Champion with 34 putts. Songpol Sak earned the Cricket Bat for the Booby Prize, and in his first game with the D.O.G.S., Nick Marshall thoroughly explored the course, winning Most Exercise.

As you recall last week Pat Chaundy gave Mike Webb a drubbing in match play. This week the rivalry continued with Mike exacting revenge setting up the rubber match for next week.

Chris Barnett ensured his final round of the tournament was unforgettable by clinching the Lowest Gross, just before heading back to Houston for a few weeks. Songpol's partner, Suradet Phoounna, achieved an impressive result by securing Runner Up. Paul Eckhardt delivered an outstanding performance, earning his first Little Dog as the Weekly Champion.

Congratulations to all of the day's winners.

Jens Roestel and Chris Barnett both made progress this week to hold on to the 1st and 2nd positions, while Sepand Zarrabi advanced to 3rd place. The competitors in the chasing pack have plenty of opportunities to improve, indicating that the tournament is still open for anyone to win. The full results are available on the leaderboard.

Next week is our penultimate round, where the leaderboard always experiences a shake-up. Seize your opportunity to climb higher. Sign up now and promptly inform John of your preferred playing partners.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity and created a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society or D.O.G.S.

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.

John and Sarah are planning to travel and join them for this special occasion.

If you’re interested in being part of the celebration, please let us know!
