D.O.G.S. Charity Day and Final Round at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!

Well, what a fantastic weekend of golf and fun we all had - they even had the flags out for us on Sunday.

The weekend started with JAWS having a friendly round on Friday afternoon just to kick things off. On the Saturday we started with Bloody Mary's before getting into our 2-person scramble. Although the weather turned against us it didn't put a damper on the evening's festivities. Sunday saw blue skies again for the final round of our Eclectic Series with the Big, Mini and Little Dogs all out to play. We also held our annual matchplay against our old rivals Tee Set for the Juergen Degert Trophy.

Weekends like this don't happen without the support of our many sponsors, so we must thank not only the D.O.G.S. and Tee Set who contributed but also JAWS, Mayapada Hospital, Asian Tigers, JS Luwansa, Rosalita's, Jeremy Oberoi and Vijay Sarashetti,

As is usually the case these days we had several guests from far and wide, particularly Hawaii! So a big welcome to all newcomers and some faces we hadn't seen for a while.

So. let's start with the 2-person Charity Scramble. We had 61 players which meant we had to have one 3-ball team. Unfortunately, most groups didn't finish due to rain hitting us mid-round, so we worked on the holes completed and calculated the net score taking into account the team handicap and the index of each hole. Roger Finnie managed to stay off the wine and whisky long enough to work it all out.

This resulted in Jane & Roger Finnie taking 3rd place, Craig O'Donnell & Mikko LaValley taking 2nd place and the 3-person team of Alastair Livingston, Jeff Durham and Vijay Sarashetti taking the 1st place prizes. Given that last week saw the coronation of King Charles III, the prizes had a coronation theme - just to keep Diarmuid Flanagan happy ! - had to get that one in mate!

The evening saw a great party in the club house with lots of food and the usual array of refreshments. Bill Lloyd brought his Karaoke Machine along so inevitably the evening degenerated into a singing extravaganza.

We auctioned off Laurie O'Connor's old golf bag as well as a rather fine bottle of Chivas Regal Cask Strength Whisky - all for the Panti Asuhan Karena Doa Orphange in Sawangan.

In total you donated IDR 25.200.000 to the charity - a fantastic amount - thanks to all. We will be presenting the cheque shortly to them and will let everyone know when that will happen through our WA groups so you can come and see the orphanage for yourselves.

So, then we come to Sunday and the final round of the D.O.G.S. Eclectic Series and the annual matchplay against Tee Set. A contingent of 78 players turned out for what proved to be a glorious afternoon.

We had 13 matches this year - more than usual, with some very interesting matches which could have gone either way. However, the D.O.G.S. retained the Juergen Degert Trophy yet again with a resounding 9 - 3 victory, with only one match halved. The full details of each match can be seen opposite. Better luck next year Tee Set!

Moving on to the day's D.O.G.S. tournament; a real mix of winners, which is always good to see, with Dietrich Chillous and Gaurav Shirke taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes, Sami Kekonen and Anirudh Katre and Longest Drive honours and Willie Noronha and yet another prize for Anirudh Katre taking the Drive & Pitch honours.

Adrian Brink, hot off his singing the night before, managed to miss all the greens thus becoming our Putting Champion this week. Aprilianty Nurlan clearly enjoyed her walk around the countryside taking both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies.

Gaurav Shirke had a good day taking the Lowest Gross prize. This left Joachim Overberg this week's Runner-Up, paving the way for the ever smiling Fernando Gaggino to take home the Little Dog as this week's Champion.

A big congratulations to all this week's winners.

Now we come the Rancamaya Eclectic Results. Well, it got very tight at the top but Anirudh Katre managed to hold on to take the Big Dog home and win the coveted Blue Jacket - his first and quite an achievement for such a low handicapper!

Anirudh Katre also took the Lowest Gross Average Trophy with an impressive low score. Please check out the full standings on our Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app.

Again, a big congratulations to all our winners. Including the scramble day, we have put 461 rounds of golf through this course over the 6 weeks and 160 over the 3 days of this weekend - a very impressive turnout and a huge thanks to all for your continuing support.

Throughout this Eclectic we have been collecting for the Tanya's Ministry. You donated IDR 8.720.000 over the six weeks - thanks to everyone.

And finally, we must mention all those involved in the organisation of this great weekend - Roger Finnie, Rod Williams, John & Sarah Brown and the 2 Team Captains, Dougie McQuater and Michael Seabrook. It was a pleasure to put together!

Now we move on to another one of our favourite courses, Rainbow Hills. So all the scores get reset and here we embark on another adventure. As we say, grab a friend and sign up early.

Don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners! Please note that signing up early helps a lot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.
