D.O.G.S. Final Round at Riverside Golf Club and End of Year Party

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,

So we came to our finale for 2021; our final round at Riverside with 47 players. The starters got us off with the usual shotgun on time and the weather stayed good for the whole round resulting with steady play. This meant we were all showered and ready for the food, fun, and games at our annual End of Year Party.

But first the golf:

With a few of the people near the top of the Eclectic leaderboard away it made this final round even more tense as we waited to see where the movements would be to take the final Big Dog of the year and the coveted Blue Jacket.

Firstly the skill prizes; Nearest the Pins prizes were taken by Sami Kekonen and Colin Sifton, the guys kept the ladies at bay for a change taking the Longest Drives through Cedric Lee and Hitoshi Maruyama but the ladies are never far away with Meher Noronha and Umi Umay taking the Drive & Pitch honours.

Colin Sifton’s putter was clearly working taking the Putting Champion prize with Hitoshi Maruyama shooting Lowest Gross. Sandra Novita still enjoyed the day even though she took both the Booby and Most Exercise honours. John Brown had a good day winning the Runner Up prize whilst Mike Webb continued his steady game by being this week’s Weekly Champion and the winner of the Little Dog; but would it be enough to take the Big Dog?

With a few of the contenders away, Dave Keddington being one of them and sitting at the top prior to the final round, there was plenty of movement as everyone tried to topple the absent leader, but to no avail! Dave Keddington took the Big Dog honours whilst relaxing on some beach in the east of Indonesia. Way to go Dave! What’s more, he also took the Lowest Gross Champion prize, quite unusual to have the Eclectic Champion also taking the Lowest Gross honours. In Dave's absence Cedric Lee volunteered to come up and accept on behalf of Dave.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

Full Eclectic and Lowest Gross results can be found on our Leaderboard.

After everyone was showered and changed, the fun started with our End of Year Party to celebrate another COVID affected but successful year for the D.O.G.S. As well as handing out the prizes for this Eclectic tournament, David Moore received his bespoke tailored Blue Jacket. We also took the opportunity to present Meher Noronha with her Little Dog from last week, and we took the opportunity for a great photo with her and all the Blue Jacket winners.

The other most important trophy we award annually is the Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy for the Top Dog. Points are given for the number of rounds a player plays throughout the whole year and for where they end up in each Eclectic tournament. This is our 3rd year of awarding this trophy in honour of our late founder.

Congratulations to Tribhuvan Singh for being crowned the Top Dog of 2021!

We must also thank our sponsors, not only for supporting the party but continuing to support us throughout the year and into next. Special mention to Asian Tigers (represented by Bill Lloyd), Via.com (Srinivas Murthy), and our Signature Sponsor Connect Energy (William Noronha). Without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Srinivas Murthy, has also pledged some computers for us to give to one of our charity recipients, thank you again for your generosity.

The rest of our sponsors are not forgotten and their support is also very much appreciated. Thank you to The RIO Club, Warung Turki, Turquaz, Amigos, Riverside Golf Club, Good Game Golf and Celebrity Fitness Fitness First.

We are proud to announce that donations to our Charity Barrel for the Riverside tournament totaled 6,574,000 IDR. Well done D.O.G.S.! This will go to Yayasan Al Hijrah. More details can be found on our Charity page.

I would also like to say thank you to the Committee; Sarah Brown, Rod Williams, Kevin Dobson and Doug McQuater, to Craig Edwards for his help in the first half of the year and to Jens Roestel and Rudi Basson for educating us on the rules.

Lastly, but not least, thank you to all the Dogs who come out to play with us through the year!
