D.O.G.S. Final Round at Senayan National Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,

26 players came out to enjoy our final round of city golf and see who would take home the Big Dog. After some pre-round strategizing in the clubhouse the D.O.G.S. were ushered out to the tee boxes to get things underway. Despite the afternoon rains we had seen during the week in the run up to our Final we were blessed with clear skies for the last round. Play moved quickly around the course with no holdups making for a great day of golf.

Welcome back to Gary Danskin who played with us many years ago and is now back on the scene. Gary managed 3 prizes on his return to play; Nearest to Pin, Longest Drive and Lowest Gross with a 73. Way to make an impression Gary!

Bill Lloyd had his putter working for him on Saturday needing just 21 putts for his round which was the right number to make him our Putting Champion.

Richard Mau scored 38 Stableford points, just enough for Runner Up on the day with Gaurav Shirke's 39 taking the Weekly Champion prize.

Coming into our final week the competition for the Big Dog and Lowest Gross were tight. Gaurav Shirke became the Lowest Gross Champion with an 79.5 average. Gaurav added to his big haul on the day taking 3rd place in the Eclectic. James Bristow was edged out for LG but his Eclectic 2nd place should help to alleviate the anguish. Congratulations to our newest Eclectic Champion and proud owner of his first Big Dog Tribhuvan Singh.

The proud Champion

Congratulations to all of our winners! Full results can be viewed on our Leaderboard.

The race for the Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy is starting to take shape with James Bristow sitting at the top. With the golf he is playing he will be tough to catch but it's still possible so get out on the course to make your move.

Next week we move to a D.O.G.S. favorite in Citeureup, an interesting layout with the course divided into two parts; the first-nine holes are set on low-level areas, and the back nine on higher-level areas. The naturally rolling fairways and undulating greens will pose a challenge for the D.O.G.S.

Match against JAWS

JAWS the new guys on the Jakarta golf scene will be joining us on our September 5 game at Permata Sentul for a friendly match. Team Captain Doug McQuater is looking to put together the winning team. Please let him or us know if you would like to represent the D.O.G.S.

We will use this occasion to help out our good friends YHOG; all game fees will be collected and donated to help them with their charity supporting facial reconstructive surgery for infants and children with cleft palates.

Rules

Read the scorecards. Both D.O.G.S. and course, the course scorecards contain local rules. A discussion came up during our final round on what to do if you hit a power line. This falls under a Model Local Rule and is addressed on the Senayan scorecard. Short answer; stroke cancelled, ball abandoned and replayed. There is no choice on this.

A friendly reminder:

The D.O.G.S. are first and foremost about having fun with some friendly competition. This being the case we would respectfully like to remind everyone that we are in a competition and therefore the rules of golf should be adhered to. Please remember a few important points:

  • No improving lie unless lift clean and place has been announced.

  • No gimmees without playing partners approval and even then, putts must NOT be for par or less.

  • Scorecards should be marked by playing partners, not by player.

  • All scorecards must be signed by player and scorer.

  • Have fun.
