D.O.G.S. First Round at Klub Golf Bogor Raya

Updated: Sep 12

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!!

So after 4 years we return to one of the top courses in Indonesia - Klub Golf Bogor Raya - and we were not disappointed. A great turnout of 54 players made it for our first round in the new Eclectic Series and were welcomed with a beer voucher and complimentary snacks from the club management.

Great to see some new faces - big welcome to Birgir Birgisson, Dato'Ary, Emiliano Bernasconi and Sepand Zarrabi and a big welcome back to Don Duttlinger, Runar Jonsson, JP Seveke and Colin Shanks.

No shotgun but we were promised, and got, an early start on a course in excellent condition which meant everybody was underway by 12:30'ish and, despite a short shower mid round, all were finished and relaxing in the Tondano Terrace in good time.

So to the play: old Dog Frank Musgrove and Jeremy Oberoi showed their accuracy by taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes with Jeremy Oberoi again showing his accuracy taking one of the Drive & Pitch honours with the other going to Douglas Ure. Alex MacGregor and Robbie Crozier showed us how to hit the ball long and straight taking the Longest Drive prizes. Robson Drumond had a good day with the putter becoming this week's Putting Champion. Gazza Chapman, who is about to leave these shores to move to Australia, left his mark by taking the new Booby Prize of a mini cricket bat - need to take up a new sport mate! - the Aussies need good cricketers (here speaks an englishman!). Christian Berkenhoff improved on his record by scoring an even higher score to yet again take this week's Most Exercise trophy - no worries, surely it can only improve now!

Richard Mau was very much on form shooting an impressive score off the stick for the Lowest Gross with Akhil Aggarwal also having a good day becoming this week's Runner Up.

So that left Jude Alexander to be our first Weekly Champion of this series taking the Little Dog home to add to his ever growing kennel - congrats Jude and to all our winners this week.

By the way - there is a Top Dog Trophy awarded at the end of the year - it's the Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy - checkout the current standings on our Fritz Hainzl Memorial Trophy page.

We had a little bit of unfinished business to attend to - just to show the D.O.G.S. never forget - and that was to award Don Duttlinger his Blue Jacket from way back in 2019 at the Riverside Eclectic Series - well done Don!

This being only the first week of the series not much to report on the Eclectic standings as it's very early days but please check out he full results through our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app as usual.

Our charity this series is Tupai Pandai whose main goal is to help educate Indonesian children about the importance of healthy living and also protecting the environment. Check them out on our Charity page or their website https://tupaipandai.com/
