D.O.G.S. First Round at Sedayu Indo Golf

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!

So we came to the first round in a new Eclectic Series and a new course for the D.O.G.S. - Sedayu Indo Golf - a mix of links and parkland golf. The new challenge was taken up by 49 players - a great turnout once again.

The starter gave us a semi shotgun at 12:30 so all players were back sitting on the terrace in the clubhouse to watch the sunset over the floodlit course - even Fritz enjoyed his day.

What with pot bunkers, fairways with cruel runoffs and even walls in the middle of one fairway and a fair share of water as well as a sea breeze - which fortunately died down during the round - at least the greens were true and in excellent condition. For a number of players this was their first time to play at Sedayu, there was much to talk about over drinks and food afterwards.

Lots of photos as you can see below - including more than the usual showing the challenges some faced!

To the play: Sami Kekonen and Richard Mau showed their tee shot accuracy taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes whilst Craig Stewart and Rod Williams showed their approach shot accuracy taking the Drive & Pitch prizes. Siti Fatimah and Diarmuid Flanagan managed to keep their drives on the fairway where it mattered taking the Longest Drive honours - Siti's first!

Christian Berkenhoff went to parts of this course no person has been before taking both the Booby Prize and Most Exercise - never mind - it can surely get better - note: I did see on your WA status today that you have gone to the driving range - good man!

The ubiquitous Richard Mau took the prize for missing the most greens in regulation - sorry, I mean he took this week's Putting Champion prize - my apologies !!

Avnish 'Evergreen' Patankar nearly made it but had to settle for Runner Up this week.

This left the stage clear for the one and only Sarah Brown to take both the Lowest Gross and Little Dog becoming this week's Champion - well done Sarah being the first ever lady to take the Lowest Gross prize!

A big congratulations to all our winners this week.

With this being only the first week of the series, not much to report on the Eclectic standings - very early days yet - but check out the full results through our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app as usual.

Our Charity for this series will follow on our strategy to support local children's causes with the emphasis on educational support. We will post more details on the chosen charity for this Eclectic Series shortly but, as always, thank you for all your continuing support.

Now we move on to the second week of the series. We will have a semi shotgun again at 12:30pm latest so please ensure you are there in good time so we can all start on time - thanks in advance.

As we always say; grab a friend, please sign up early and let Rod know your preferred playing partners.

A - True

B - False

Correct answer: A

When dropping a ball under a Rule, a player drops the ball in the right way twice and both times the ball comes to rest just outside the relief area, no nearer the hole. What is the ruling?

A - The player must place a ball anywhere in the relief area.

B - The player must continue dropping until a ball comes to rest in the relief area.

C - The player must place a ball on the spot where the ball dropped the second time, first touched the ground.

Correct answer: C

Explanation: If a ball has been dropped in the right way twice and both times

comes to rest outside the relief area, the player must complete taking relief by

placing a ball on the spot where the ball dropped the second time, first touched

the ground.

A player in stroke play started a round with 13 clubs. During the front nine she broke her putter in anger. After the ninth hole she bought another putter in the Pro Shop and used it for the remainder of the round. What is the ruling?

A - There is no penalty.

B - The player gets a two stroke penalty at the 10th and 11th holes.

C - The player is disqualified.

Correct answer A
