Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!
Another great turnout with 66 players for our 4th round at Imperial. A hot and sunny afternoon was waiting and we all got off on time with our shotgun off the back nine holes for a change. Despite the course being very busy in the morning it was relatively quiet for us in the afternoon meaning everyone finished in good time and back in the restaurant for the usual Apres Golf!
Some newcomers this week as usual - so a big welcome to Aljosja Van Dorssen, Febron Siregar, Juha Suomi and Tim Hornby and welcome back Juha Christensen - it's been a while!
So to the play: A few winners this week we don't see too often - always good to spread the joy - and a few we often see. Nearest to the Pin saw two winners we don't see too often, namely Riche Tiblani and Minn Tun. Similarly for the Drive & Pitch prizes going to Chris Anderson and Ronald Lim. Anirudh Katre characteristically had his driver working well taking both the Longest Drive prizes with the one on Hole 6 being converted to a rare Eagle 3.
Roger Finnie had his putter working well to become this week's Putting Champion despite having 2 triple putts but 14 single puts!
Sri Sollfrank struggled a bit this week taking her second Booby prize of the series whilst Christian Berkenhoff added yet again to his collection of Most Exercise trophies - I hear you have booked some lessons!
The ever ubiquitous Anirudh Katre showed us all how to play this course taking the Lowest Gross prize again. Rosie Tjaden must have thought she had nailed it with a great round but had to settle for the Runner Up prize this week which left the way for Chris Anderson to take his second Little Dog at Imperial and taking the honour of being this week's Champion.
Due to a bit of hiccup in the scoring last week we also presented Terence Martin with his Little Dog as he was the Weekly Champion in our 3rd round with Richard Mau being the Runner up. Sri obviously wanted to remind Terence of the consequences if he had a really bad round - you just can't keep her down!!
So, a big congratulations to all our winners this week!!
So, with 4 rounds now complete there is still a lot of movement at the top of the Eclectic Leaderboard with Indar Dhaliwal sitting in the top slot at the moment. There's still 2 more rounds and with all the movement we have seen who knows how this is going to turn out.
Please check out the full standings on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app.
We had two Birthday Celebrants this week Sarah Brown on the 9th and Gaurav Shirke on the day itself, the 11th. A big Happy Birthday to you both - no comment on their ages but just to say one looks younger whilst the other looks older!
So, we come to our penultimate round and for the remaining 2 weeks we will be shotgunning off the back nine holes again. So, as we always say, grab a friend and sign up now and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please note that signing up early helps alot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.

When a player's ball that was covered by sand has accidentally been moved in trying to find it, there is no penalty, but the ball must be replaced. When the original lie is recreated, the player may leave a small part of the ball visible.
A - True
B - False
Correct answer A
Explanation: If the ball was covered by sand, the original lie must be re-created and the ball must be replaced in that lie, but the player may leave a small part of the ball visible when doing so.
Leaves, twigs, grass and branches which are not attached or growing are loose impediments, which you are allowed to remove.
A - True
B – False
Correct answer A
Explanation: This is the exact Definition of Loose Impediments
When are you NOT allowed free relief?
A - When you are standing in a puddle of water to play a ball lying outside the puddle in the fairway.
B - When the ball is lying on grass, but you are likely to hit a cart path with your club on your follow through.
C - When there is a sprinkler between your ball and your feet, but the sprinkler is not interfering with your shot.
Correct answer C
Explanation: You are allowed free relief from an abnormal course condition when you have interference from it. Interference does not exist when an abnormal course condition is close to you but your ball is not lying on it and if it does not interference with your stance or your area of intended swing.
This week we had an interesting case: Someone used the repair tool to hold his cigar, while he was putting. The fork he stuck into the ground within his sight and the cigar was directed into a direction (not on purpose into a special direction), then he putted.
The question is, is that allowed or not?
This is not allowed, because the direction of the cigar could help him
(intentionally or not) for the alignment of his put. Putting the tool outside
his sight would be allowed.
