Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!

Another great day for golf amongst the rolling hills of Permata Sentul with another good turnout of 52 players. Some sore heads following the night before - something to do with drinking at Chairman Mau's bar! David Moore looked like death warmed up which was reflected in his golf - symptoms of flu I believe - but he still made it! The steep undulations in the course soon walked off those hangovers - or maybe it was the hair-of-the-dog - no pun intended - that did the trick!
The course was dry leading to lots of runoff into the jungle and the greens were super-fast - 11 on the stimpmeter! Another big group was also playing in the afternoon so a challenge for the club - but, with the D.O.G.S. shotgunning off the back nine and the other group off the front nine, play seemed to go smoothly, and all were finished in good time - even the resident monkeys stayed away this week!
Some newcomers as usual, so a big welcome to Arham Harun, Oki Pribadi and Peter Cory, and a welcome back to Imran Harun, Stephen Nye, Sushant Agrawal and the Pandey Family - don't leave it so long please guys!
So to the play: the skills prizes were well distributed this week with Ameesh Anand and Reysia Moore winning the Nearest to the Pin prizes - Rey kindly gave her bottle of Fireball prize to hubby to help with his flu but I think his mates drank most of it to make sure he didn't pass his flu on to them! - that's the spirit! Jannes Tjaden - straight after his impressive 2nd place spot in the recent Indonesia Pro-Am tournament - and Imran Harun took the Longest Drive prizes with Vijay Sarashetti and newcomer Oki Pribadi showing their accuracy with their approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch Prizes.
Sean Flanagan decided he wanted his last round with us - at least for a while - to be a memorable one - so he won both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies - look forward to seeing you again before too long - and get some lessons from someone other than your Dad!
Roger "I like walking the course because it keeps me slim" Finnie took both the Putting Champion - no mean feat on these greens - and the Lowest Gross prizes. Keep walking Roger, it's good for your golf but does nothing for the waistline!
Arne Tjaden clearly had to emulate his son but could only manage Runner Up this week leaving the way for Luca Parolin to break 90 for the first time and take the Little Dog home as our Weekly Champion.
A big congratulation to all our winners.
So, with 2 rounds now under our belts, things are starting to take shape at the top of the leaderboard with Richard Mau taking a 2.1 lead but only 6.4 separating the top ten - still a very long way to go. You can see the current standings on our Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app.
So now to the halfway stage and our third round, so, please grab a friend or two, sign up for the and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners! Also note that signing up early helps a lot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.

The Rules and what it means when we play.

Jens Roestel
R&A First Grade Umpire.
Today we will have a look at the new rules for the year 2023.
Players are not responsible for the correct handicap written on the scorecard and therefore neither for the correct net result. They are still responsible to submit the correct gross score.
A player is allowed to keep using and/or to repair any club damaged during the round, no matter what the damage and even if the player damaged it in anger.
A player is not allowed to replace a damaged club, except when it is damaged during the round by an outside influence or natural forces or by someone other than the player or his or her caddie.
If someone changes their ball while playing a hole the penalty is one stroke (e.g. using a different ball for putting). The ball may be replaced at any time if it is damaged.
If a ball is moved by natural causes after it was dropped and came to rest, it has be placed at the spot where it came to rest. No penalty is added.
It was made clearer that nobody on the course is allowed to put anything onto the ground to align a shot or a swing. The caddy might stand in the direction but must leave before the shot is made.
If a ball, which was played outside the green, hits a person or an outside influence the ball must be played as it lies. If it was played from the green the ball must be putted again, but not if the ball hits an insect, the player or the club which was used for the putt.
Penalties in Stableford games are now the same as in a normal stroke play.
There are new regulations for player with physical handicaps in rule 25. If you need advice here, please contact the umpire or download the rules from the internet.
If a ball is dropped under the rule of having a backwards line to drop the ball on is modified that the ball can be dropped on the line or one club length either side of the line.
The rules, where a shot needed to be repeated are modified; so that if it was not done, the player gets a penalty but will not be disqualified.
