Hail The D.O.G.S.!!!!!,
The 21 players who came out for our 3rd round were awarded an early start with first groups teeing off at 11:30.
Prior to tee off the starter told us that the bunkers were in bad (unplayable) condition, therefore it was decided a free drop could be taken from behind the bunker for anyone that happened to find one. As it turned out the bunkers were not as bad as advised and were in fact playable. We will have to send out scouts before the next rounds to confirm conditions.
Heavy rains and lightning strikes moving closer led to the course sirens sounding around 3pm and sending everyone to the club house early.
Only 9 players completed 18 holes, all coincidently had started on the 10th hole (the 1st hole starters were stuck behind a very slow two ball), thus the weekly awards for Runner up and Little Dog were calculated from 16 completed holes.
This saved Peter Nielen-Groen from heading back out in a scene that would have been reminiscent to Caddy Shack, as with only one hole left on his card Peter felt he had a strong chance for the Little Dog.
Due to the number of DNF’s only the Nearest to Pin, Longest Drive, Drive & Pitch were awarded along with the Runner Up and the Little Dog.
Steve Sutton had a great day with a Nearest to Pin and Drive & Pitch, Arne Tjaden won the other Nearest to Pin and a Longest Drive, Jens Roestel and Keith Gorman to pick up the remaining skill prizes.
Peter Nielen-Groen's decision to not head back out left him having to settle for Runner Up with 35 points from his 16 holes. Weekly Champion honours and the Little Dog went to Steve Sutton who managed 36 points out of 16 holes completed.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners! Full results are posted on our Leaderboard.
