D.O.G.S. Antepenultimate Round at Permata Sentul Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!


A large congregation of D.O.G.S. turned up early and were eager to get underway. Kevin Dobson was so excited he left his cooler behind in his haste to get out on the course. Fortunately, fellow golfer Chris Barnett spotted it and deposited it on the 8th tee box for Kevin to retrieve.


Welcome to Ryan Rwanda and Graeme Harley, who joined us for their first D.O.G.S. round. It was also great to have Jeff Colbert, Sean Hill, Andy Doran, and Gary White back with us.



As with the previous three weeks, we were once again provided with an early start. Play was quickly underway following a shotgun start across holes 1 through 4. With nobody in front of us, the lead groups whisked around the course at an impressive pace.

Playing conditions were excellent, as evidenced by three players posting rounds in the 70s.


Doug McQuater and Tomoaki Mazaki shared Nearest to Pin honours. Graeme Harley introduced himself to the D.O.G.S. in style by claiming one of the Longest Drives, while Jeff Colbert collected the other. Sepand Zarrabi and Paul Eckhardt were victorious in Drive & Pitch, while Roger Finnie mastered the greens to take home the Putting Champion prize.



Gary White, returning to golf after some time away from the game, collected the Booby Prize while working off the rust. Sean Hill was our Most Exercise winner.

Hitoshi Maruyama had a superb day, collecting 15 points of improvements on his way to winning Lowest Gross. Stan Provance encountered some difficulties in the bunker on the 9th hole, but that did not stop him from finishing as Runner-Up to this week's Weekly Champion, Kevin Dobson.

With just one round remaining, Paul Eckhardt sits atop the leaderboard. He should not get too comfortable, however, as the chasing pack is hungry for a Big Dog and remains well within striking distance of the lead. Full results can be viewed on the leaderboard.


There is still everything to play for as we head into the penultimate round of the series. With the leaderboard tightly packed, a strong performance next week could propel players into contention heading into the final round.

Rules Information


My Ball Moved During My Backswing!


It doesn't happen often, but every now and then a ball perched on a slope decides to move just as a player starts their backswing.


What happens if you still hit it?


Under the Rules of Golf, if the ball starts moving after you have begun your backswing and you complete the stroke, there is no penalty. The ball is not replaced and the stroke counts. You simply play the ball from wherever it comes to rest.


The key is that the movement occurs after the backswing has begun. Had the ball moved before that, different rules may apply.
